Team Meeting - Part 2
By Captain Keith Ketchum and Commander Skyler
"Well thenâ?¦ assignments", Keith pauses to get his thoughts straight, "Doctor
Moreya and your team - since there appears to be an immense amount of
radiation, you need to check to see if the crew needs inoculations for
radiation
poisoning. Plus be ready to assist on any of the Allegiance crew."
Keith looked around the table, "Karg, need you to have ship weapons ready for
a possible unknown enemy if other ships are nearby. And we don't want to
ignite any Metaphasic particles."
Keith glanced at Skyler then to Javan, "Mr. Sierra, have your team make sure
handheld weapons are ready for a possible unknown enemy, and have your teams
ready for escorting both engineering and medical teams on the Allegiance. If
they have been boarded by an unknown life form, it is probably lurking, and I
want our team safe as they can." Keith glanced back to Skyler to see her
reaction.
Skyler was not happy with the idea of Javan going on an away mission so soon
after his last encounter with an alien being. She knew that he was needed, but
that didn't stop her from worrying about him and from worrying about Captain
valQIS. The last time they had seen each other, (before meeting in Admiral
Valdez's office) was during the war games on the last Avalon. At that time she
was the XO of the Avalon-A, the same position that Skyler held now. Skyler
respected valQIS in many ways. She was fiercely independent, very capable of
defending herself, as she had shown on many occasions. She could also be a very
intimidating person, if you didn't know her.
It had taken Skyler sometime to get to know her and that was only through
several holodeck programs. Many which had left Skyler in her own sickbay with
Georgia giving her many a lecture on avoiding fighting with valQIS. She tried
to
explain to Georgia that, fighting against such a worthy opponent as Cmdr
valQIS was an honor and the only way one was going to learn.
Skyler remembered one instance when the Commander had injured herself in
battle and refused treatment. It took several attempts by her mother to
persuade
her to stop being so stubborn and to let down the walls that she had put up
around her. Eventually she did let them down a little and let Skyler in. It was
the proudest moment of Skyler's career to be within inches of a great warrior.
She was still in shock but she couldn't let that stop her from doing her job.
"Mr. Thomas, need you to have your team ready to board the Allegiance and try
to get whatever is broken fixed."
"Snuffy, the easy assignment, I guess, study the nebula. I'm sure that
besides the Metaphasic radiation and dark matter fields that Command wants us
to
study, there might be something more. Maybe, if they are still alive, contact
the Allegiance science team and work with them."
"Ranger, continue the scans of the Allegiance, I want to know as much as we
can get before we get there. Also keep trying to get in contact with
Allegiance, if possible."
Keith looks around the table, knowing he forgot someone. Then his eyes fall
on Felicity. "Lieutenant Roan, there is nothing at this point for you to do.
But there may have some members of the crew from the Allegiance that require
your expertise due to their trauma in this situation."
"If there is nothing else", Keith looks from Yeoman Pageant to Skyler, both
of whom were taking notes, "Commander?"
"I have no comments or questions at the present time, Captain. Crew
dismissed." Keith nods as Skyler dismisses the crew.
The crew exits the conference room, and headed back to their duties. Keith
turned towards the window in the conference room, and stared out.
