Retol monitored the Tal Shiar long range sensors. The Starfleet ship was doing
well. A ship that was smaller and less powerful, standing almost toe to toe
with two Ferengi Marauders. He entered a few more commands, switching long
range sensors to a different array before the military got wind of their
sensors being accessed.
Vrenek swept into the room, her robes flowing around her. "Report!" she ordered
Retol, startling him from his observations.
He gathered back his surprise and went back to monitoring the battle, "If you
want a report, access a console."
"Rha-rh'e?" she asked with raised brow. "You will pay for all your
insubordination, Retol." Moving over to the same console, she stood behind
Retol and watched the ships on the monitors.
"I?m sure you'll be more than happy to assist in that," Retol replied without
so much as a bored tone in his voice. He pointed at the display, "As you see,
the Federation ship is holding its own. But not much longer, they've taken
quite a few hits, and it seems as though they are stalling."
"Stalling?" she asked, interested. "Whatever for?" Then it suddenly hit her.
"They are having to go in after T'Pex. By the Elements, I hope they make it,"
she added, leaning over Retol's shoulder further, momentarily forgetting her
distaste for him.
"Momentary lapse for your hatred of me, Vrenek? Or were you asking for your
hand returned to you... in a box?" Retol shrugged her off. "At any rate, the
Starfleet ship- Avalon, is still in battle, and has been for thirty minutes. I
have activated a few operatives to give me more info on this ship."
Straightening up quickly, she sneered at the nasty fvai in front of her. "You
do not have the courage to strike out against me, you little kllhe." She sat in
the seat next to him and affixed her gaze to the screen. "What are the
operatives saying?"
He smirked at her, wondering how far she would truly grandstand before his
threats became a reality. "My operatives say the Avalon is an Intelligence
manned ship. Starfleet is very curious as to why our scientist has defected.
More information is being accessed. Starfleet has kept things quiet, so the
information will take some time."
"I bet they are not going to let him go without sticking their noses into
matters that do not concern them." She cursed and looked away, attempting to
formulate any sort of plan to keep the Federation further out of their dilemma.
Admitting she had nothing was frustrating.
"Naturally. I?m considering activating one of our operatives to change the
Avalon's mission as quickly as possible, but it would alert Starfleet Command.
For now, the only thing we can do is watch, and wait. Cretann will not be
pleased, but at least his project won?t lay to waste." Retol deactivated the
monitor, "Was there anything else? Threats? 'Orders'? Your incessant whining?"
She turned a cold, dead eye on her counterpart. "You push and push, Retol...
Just keep pushing. If I had no use for you, you would be dead." She stood.
"Make sure this goes our way or both our lives are forfeit and I will kill you
first for the simple pleasure of it. Evisceration, dear?" she cackled as she
headed towards the door.
"You kill me?" Retol barked, "I could have an operative shoot you before you
walk out this door, my dearest. You eliminating me won?t matter. You'll be just
as dead." The doors suddenly wisped open, "Ah, T'lok. So good of you to drop
by." Retol sneered as the operative stood at the doorway. "Don't take my
threats as a joke, Vrenek. He really was waiting for you."
She laughed as she looked back at Retol. "You need me to keep you alive for
now. And I have my own insurance." With that she brushed past T'lok and went
her way.
