<USS Avalon> "Talking to Memories" with a minor correction

  
"Talking to Memories"
Cmdr Skyler
 
Skyler was down on Betazed with all the old memories rushing her in full  
force. This is precisely why she hadn't wanted to come down to the surface in  
the first place, but no, little sister always got her way, one way or  another.
 
It was a shock to see how their home had not been kept up, the sidewalks  
were crumbling, the gardens were full of weeds, their home it self was in need  
of severe work. I guess that's what happens when you try to forget a place. The 
Coi in the pond didn't even look overtly healthy most likely due  to the 
surface scum and algae. Now with a new generation on the way, Skyler  would 
have 
to make sure that this place was restored to it's original condition  and that 
the grounds were kept up. She left all the final arrangements up to  Georgia, 
who had always known whom to call upon for such matters. Money hadn't  been 
the problem, the problem had been Skyler and her denial of Celeste and  Sunni.
 
She couldn't do anything about Celeste, except to make sure that her and  
Maddox's graves were kept up. She could do something about the estate for 
Sunni,  
if she ever decided she wanted to live there. Going off on her own, she 
opened  the creaky gate, walking into the cemetery where her parents remains 
had 
been  laid to rest. She sat on one of the benches after wiping the dead leaves 
off of  it. She sat and listened to the birds in the trees and to the overall  
peacefulness.
 
Well, mother it would seem that your two daughters have been reunited.  I 
hope this pleases you. We are serving on the same ship, the USS Avalon. I  
think 
you would like her father. I think of you often and miss you even more. I  kn
ow it has been some time since I have come to talk to you but it has hurt too  
much. There are going to be some big changes around here.
 
It would seem that Soliel is going to have a child. I wish you could be  here 
to help her along mother, as I am not very good at this sort of thing. She  
is going by the name of Melanie Redgrave now, apparently a good upstanding  
British couple adopted her. They did a find job of raising her.  Now she  wants 
me to teach her how to be something she already is. I'm not sure how to do  
that. I am at a loss as to what to do. I know you would have some sage advice,  
but you're not here and I suppose it is up to me to pass on our family's  
heritage. I will do my best as you and Georgia always taught me, I can only 
hope  
it will be enough.
 
The father of this child is a Lt. Elijah Dareth, also serving on the  Avalon. 
From what little I have seen of him he is a fine man and will make a  good 
father and husband. If they decide to get married which I hope they will.  
Father, I will make sure to find out what his intention's toward your little  
girl 
are. I just got her back and I will do what I need to do, to make sure she  is 
safe and happy. I'm sure Georgia will make sure as well.
 
I am having the estate refurbished just in case she would decide one  day 
that she wanted to live here. If nothing else she would have a place to come  
to. 
I don't have much time so I will say good-bye for now. I miss you both very  
much.
 
Before Skyler would leave the cemetery she picked the weeds from her  parents 
grave sites. She also laid a white rose on each of them. She knew people  
would think she was crazy for sitting there talking to the ground but she knew  
different. It was her only connection to her parents. A connection she wasn't  
ready to break.
 
As she was walking back her comm badge went off, "Avalon Crew, this is your  
six hour recall notice.  Commanders  Skyler, Sierra and Shimbrodus, please 
report to me then, Lieutenant Garrity,  please join us also at that time.  
Ketchum out." 
 
She walked over to Melanie and Georgia well aware that they had received  the 
same message. "You two stay here, Georgia can show you around. I am going to  
beam back aboard the ship and prepare for this meeting. I will see you on  
board."
 
Tapping her comm badge she stated simply, "Avalon, this is Cmdr Skyler, one  
to beam up."
