<USS Avalon> Subterfuge, Concealment, & False-hood by Captain Keith Ketchum and Lieutenant Anthony Manson

Subterfuge, Concealment, & False-hood

by Captain Keith Ketchum and Lieutenant Anthony Manson

Keith looked at Anthony, after entering the codes to fully lock out the core to
intruders, "I have an idea, Lieutenant. Come with me to the Chief Engineer's
office"

Anthony nodded and signaled Alder to take over what he was doing. He followed
the captain to the office and once they were in he said, "sir?"

Once inside the office, the captain secured the door. "Mr Manson, I fear that
this group will want to destroy our fight. We have fought them every step of
the way."

He took a breath, "and I fear that they will want to capture the Captain of
this vessel, to break that fight."

Anthony just looked at him as neutral as he could accomplish it. Hearing this
meant that either the captain had an idea of deceptions or he wanted to turn
himself in for the return of safety for it's crew. Anthony's eyes- however-
betrayed him as it swam with worry, "sir, you're not suggesting you turn
yourself to them, are you? They would kill you on sight, sir. And then we have
to fight without a leader...we can't do that."

"Ah, that I do not plan to do." He walked to the replicator, "Computer, I need
to have a uniform department collar in my size, in red. And a uniform
department collar in Lieutenant Manson's size in grey." The computer did as it
was told.

Being relieved but now more concern peaked, "what did you have in mind, sir?"
He noticed as the replicator gave forth two uniforms.

"Subterfuge. Concealment. False-hood." Keith gave a wink to Manson. "But, I,
Lieutenant Anthony Manson will serve Captain Keith Ketchum." Saluting and
giving a chuckle.

Anthony just looked perplexed, "you're not serious are you? I mean...I don't
know how to do this...and just exactly how do I act as a 'captain'?"

"Hmm, that's a good question. I guess, don't show fear, and be decisive and
clear. I will be there to help the best I can. As you help me during normal
duties. The computer will still only recognize me as Captain, but I'm hoping
that the boarding parties don't know what the Captain looks like."

Anthony nodded. Decisive and clear, I suppose I can do that, he thought to
himself. That meant confidence, something he stilled lacked. It was manageable,
and confusing the enemy was in need. "We could temporarily have the computer
identify me as the 'captain' but in essence know you are the real one. It's
like masking the phantom but not really." He looked at the uniform. Grey, grey
was always nice.

"If they do capture you, and we plan for that *not* to happen, and try to force
you to give the computer a command, they will think that the captain's codes
were changed on your capture. Something to that effect." Keith thought, "The
crews, my crews, safety and security comes first in my book."

"Understood sir." He looked at the uniform. "Well, I'm off to change. Is there
anything else I should look out for? Because this is just strange." Anthony
added to the question.

"Nothing else that I can think of", Keith finished pinning the collar around
his neck, "Now, Captain, just hope that no one from the Avalon blows our cover
if they arrive in Engineering."

Anthony simply nodded. "Me too sir, me too."
