<USS Avalon> "StaleMate" Colonel Soliel & Captain Georgia Lewis

"Stalemate"
Colonel Soliel & Captain Georgia Lewis

The long day that had started out so well was slowly coming to an end.
Thomas had helped to relax Soliel after her encounter with Markus, and she
knew
he'd help her to relax even more once she got back to her quarters, but for
now
there was something else that Soliel needed to take care of. Tapping her
comm badge she ordered, "Captain Lewis report to my office ASAP."

Georgia was sitting in her office finishing up the days paper work and
preparing for a relaxing evening in her quarters. The only real problem had
been
in sickbay and that wimpy doctor who refused to carry a weapon. However,
Georgia had taken care of that and in the end it had all worked out as it
should
have. She was just about done when her comm badge went off requesting that she
report to Colonel Soliel's office. She wasn't afraid of her like most of the
crew. She tapped her own badge and responded, "I will be there as soon as I
can Sir."

Soliel sat ram rod straight at her desk while she waited for the security
officer to show up. The woman did a decent job, her officers were well
trained,
but she would not stand for the small woman's poor treatment of her sister.

Georgia cleaned off her desk and straightened her uniform before she left
her office and headed to the nearest lift that would take her to the Colonel's
office. Once the lift stopped she casually exited and walked to the office in
question and paused for a moment outside the door before ringing the chime.
After what she thought was an appropriate amount of time she rang the chime
and waited for the Colonel to admit her to her office.

Soliel heard the chime but did not answer it right away. She waited the
woman on the other side to wait. Things would be done on her terms and one
else's. After waiting quiet awhile she finally called out, "Enter."

Georgia entered the office and walked to the front of the Colonel's desk and
stood at attention. "Captain Lewis reporting as ordered Sir."

"What's your department's status, Captain?" Soliel asked, her voice soft and
professional. She didn't want to go right into why the Captain was there,
she liked building up to things.

Georgia looked at Soliel square in the eyes. "Security is at 99%. There are
one or two people who need a little work but other than that everything is
working well within the parameters set by command."

Soliel locked her gaze with Georgia's. The woman was stubborn, like an
unbroken mare, but her steel didn't phase Soliel the least. She'd watched her
Ronni break bigger men then Captain Georgia Lewis. "And in achieving that
status,
what role did harassing the Chief Medical Officer play?"

"Actually Ma'am, I don't recall harassing the Chief Medical Officer. I was
simply following my orders to make sure that everyone was armed during a red
alert. If you consider that harassment then so be it." Georgia didn't flinch
or remove her eyes from Soliel's. She was not about to back down one bit.

The list of people Soliel wanted to thrash was growing by leaps and bounds.
"Coming into sick bay and telling the CMO how to do her job is not part of
your duties, Captain. Neither is it your job to personally check each person
on
this ship to see if they are armed. You have no problem handing out other
menial tasks to your subordinates. If however you like the job of checking
every single person on this ship for proper arms then I'm sure I can arrange
for
that to become your full time assignment. I'm rather confident that
Lieutenant Ketchum would have no trouble becoming your CO."

Soliel smiled a small twisted smile. "Oh so many things in that little
speech to pick apart." Leaning back in her chair she made a point of letting
Georgia know she was nothing more to Soliel then a piss ant to be stepped on.
"Where to start.. Oh yes.. Sick bay is such a better place to attack when
trying
to take over a ship. Rather then say.. Taking over the bridge." The look she
was giving Georgia was one you'd give to the kid getting off the short bus.
"I'm not sure which way you walk, but sick bay isn't no where near on your way
to the Bridge from Security so you obviously made a conscious choice to go
there and stick your nose where it didn't belong. Their first priory down there
is to prepare for incoming wounded. A doctor's thoughts are always going to
go there before anything else. I'm quiet sure the staff would have armed
themselves without your unwanted, unneeded input."

Questioning engineering had sent Soliel's anger to it's heights. "As far as
my department goes. My people arm themselves the moment an alert is called."
Slowly Soliel got to her feet, never breaking eye contact. "As for Roan she
can kiss my ass because if I want
something done only the General has the power to stop me and I can assure
you that you are nothing more to him then a name on PADD."

"You know Colonel, we can play this staring game all day if you would like.
The bottom line is I did my job and you don't like the fact that your sister
was upset by it. Now there is nothing I can do about that now nor would I
change anything I had done. My job is to make sure that everyone, including
you,
god forbid, remains alive to live another day in this hell we are living in.
Now if that means that someone's feelings get hurt or I step on someone's
toes then so be it. I know perfectly well what my responsibilities are and how
to do them. If you want to question my abilities that is your choice, however
I would make damn sure you are absolutely positive that this is a move you
want to make. No, I am not threatening you, and I am not threatening anyone
else. I am simply stating a fact. I know my job and I do my job damn well. My
job is also to make sure the General stays alive as well as everyone else on
this bucket of bolts. If you want to reprimand me then be my guest, however I
will not change how I do my job."

"It's a good thing your not threatening me, Captain." Soliel picked up a
PADD and tossed it down in the front of the woman. "Cause you see I'd hate to
add onto that.. It's an official reprimand, approved by the General,
permanently attached to your record for abuse of power." Soliel's smile grew
brighter.
"I never once said you didn't do a damn fine job, Captain. Only that you need
to keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong. Step on my sister's toes
again and Keith'll have a bitch to call all his own by the end of the week."
Soliel's eyes seemed to light up as she watched the other woman look at the
PADD. "Your dismissed, Captain Lewis."

"Yes Sir." Georgia smartly turned and left the Colonel's office while
secretly calling her every name in the book. Her day would come and Georgia
would
be there to see her fall.
