    Since his run-in with Nurse Lewis in Medical, Idrys had been on edge. He 
loved Skyler with all his heart and soul and he had no doubt that Lewis cared, 
in her own way, very deeply about her friend. She had to have done a lot in 
order to earn her place as Skyler's confidante. On the other hand, he felt that 
she was taking an overly protective attitude towards the woman who was his 
Imzadi. He could understand and tolerate other people voicing their concerns 
but 
only to a point. In his mind, Lewis had crossed the bounds of territory as he 
and Skyler now were lovers and shared the same quarters. Lewis didn't fit in 
in that intimate regard and Idrys resented the hell out of her attitude. He'd 
hold his own but he knew he had to tread carefully so as to avoid damaging the 
relationship between Skyler and himself.

    And just what could happen now? Would Skyler turn against him if Lewis 
spoke to her and let drop a well-timed line or two? He really felt terribly 
insecure about it all. She was his everything, and now, this ... this BITCH ... 
had to come along into a veritable Eden and spoil it all. He shook his head, 
remembering that even Eden had its serpent. So what to do?

    The light flashed which indicated he had to report quickly for duty to Si
ckbay. Yet another shift. More hours away from the woman he loved. But he 
wanted to make it clear to her that his love for her was unending.

    Unending ... yes, that was it! He replicated a small golden ring with a 
diamond in it. He set it down not far inside the doorway with the following 
message on a PADD:

    Imzadi, I love you, now and always. We are and always have been meant for 
one another. I cannot bear the thought of being anything other than eternally 
yours another minute. If you will have me, Imzadi, please marry me on the 
fourteenth of this month.

    He re-read the message twice and nodded. Time was wasting and he headed 
out to the turbolift and stepped inside. "Sickbay." It moved and he wondered 
how both Skyler -- and, in her turn, Lewis -- would react.

    The turbolift doors opened and he walked into Sickbay, a wry smile 
playing about his lips. He headed over to his station and began the usual 
routine of 
inventory, already feeling much happier than before.

    As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the maidens, he thought.
