<USS Avalon> "Seeking Advice" Georgia Lewis & Dr. Roan

"Seeking Advice"
LtJg Georgia Lewis & Dr. Felicity Roan
Georgia had been going crazy for days now. She just wasn't herself. She
knew that she had done Skyler wrong and Melanie as well. Now she needed someone

to talk to, but didn't know whom she could talk to. She knew all too well
that Skyler wasn't ready to talk to her and she wasn't too sure about Melanie.

Damnit, why did their parent's have to leave her to pick up the pieces? Skyler
was no doubt just about on the edge of going into some Betazoid coma or
something. She couldn't talk to Idrys because he would just go tell Skyler. She

had to talk to someone before they reached Earth. She finally worked up enough
nerve to try and talk to Dr. Roan.
Felicity was sitting in her office after speaking with Dr. Idrys about the
physicals, preparing her final report on the status of the crew. It had been
an exhausting few months and she was looking forward to her leave. Her staff
was due for the leave as well. They had been working so hard and were more
than deserving.
Georgia made her way to the Doctor's office and took a deep breath and
knocked on the door and waited for an answer. It was the longest minute in her
life. In fact she was having second thoughts and was just about to turn around
but thought better of it.
Felicity heard the chime on the door and looked up from her report. She was
nearly finished but figured it was best to answer the door. "Enter," she
acknowledged the chime and waited for the doors to open. When she saw
Georgia, she wondered what was on her mind.
"Nurse Lewis, what can I do for you this afternoon?"
Georgia wasn't quite sure what to say to Dr. Roan and was taken by surprise
when the door opened. At least it wasn't Dr. Idrys. That would've really
thrown her for a loop.
“Dr. Roan, if you aren't too busy, I really need to talk to someone and it
would appear that this time I can't talk to Miss Skyler. I hope I am not
interrupting anything, if I am I can come back or I can just forget about it."
Part of Georgia wanted to forget about the whole mess. Skyler, Melanie, not
to mention their parents. She just wanted to return to Earth and visit her
friend Eliza Mae and fight over some Pecan pie.
Felicity motioned for the nurse to enter, "Not at all, I was just finishing
up some reports before I head out on a short leave. I have some business to
attend to while I'm here on Earth and then I need to visit the family. What
brings you here on this fine shoreleave afternoon?"
Still puzzled by why her nurse would pay her a visit, Felicity positioned
herself to listen intently.
Georgia found a chair and sat down, nervously looking at her feet and
wringing her hands. She really needed to talk to someone but even now wasn't
sure
what to say or how to say it.
"Dr. Roan, you have worked with Cmdr Skyler for sometime now, and I am sure
you are aware that she is very important to me. Unfortunately there is now
some strain between us, that I am not sure how to over come. It has to do with
my relationship with her parents and LtJg Melanie Redgrave. I have been
keeping a secret from Ms. Skyler for a very long time and she just recently
found
out. Now she is not speaking to me and I am not sure how to correct the
problem."
Georgia continued to look around nervously. She knew she must sound nuts.
She certainly felt like she was falling apart at the seams. She probably
shouldn't have bothered Dr. Roan with her problems. But as usual...she opened
her
mouth and inserted her foot.
"You see, Dr. Roan, Skyler and Melanie are sisters. Neither one has known
about the other, and up until Melanie appeared on the Avalon, everything was
just fine. Skyler never knew she had a sister because her parents made me
promise not to tell her. Why I agreed I will never know. Now the truth is
out...and someone I care about is hurting. Not to mention totally ticked off
at me.
You don't happen to have any suggestions do you? Right now I can use all the
help I can get. I have to find a way to make peace between Skyler and Melanie
and maybe someday...............maybe..........myself."
Felicity paused, ever so slightly, and studied the obviously upset Nurse in
front of her. She could understand every side of the triangle, except why
their parents had chosen to withhold the information. It didn't matter for
the
moment, the welfare of relationships was at stake.
"Georgia, for the moment, you have to accept their anger and pain. They feel
betrayed, and emotionally overwhelmed. Let us. for the moment, put aside
blame. It is obvious to me that you know and feel it inside of you. In order
to rebuilt the trust and love that was once there, you will have to start
over again, but first... you must admit to them that you were wrong, if that's
what you believe. Above all, you must be honest... their pain cannot be much
worse than it must be now, the time for "small white lies" is long past."
Felicity frowned. She did not want to increase the amount of pain and
suffering that Georgia obviously had, but she need for her to comprehend how
truly
sad the situation was. "Georgia, you must also learn to forgive yourself.
The how and why leading up to you concealing the secret is just a small part
of this... but accepting yourself for it and letting it go will allow you to
rebuild the relationship. I am truly sorry for the situation. I can't
imagine having to go through life, thinking I was alone and then discovering I
had a blood relative that close... and if you were in their shoes, you can too
I'm sure."
What a heart-wrenching situation and there wasn't a winner anywhere. "I do
hope it works out for you... take your time, give them space, and let them be
angry when they want to be for a while. If they don't get it out of their
systems, the chance for reconciliation is small. I hope that I've been some
help to you... I'm sure it wasn't easy. I need to head out, but please, come
talk to me again if you'd like."
Georgia nodded that she understood. She stood up and thanked the Doctor for
her advice. She still wasn't sure how she was ever going to forgive herself
but she knew the
doctor was right. After leaving sickbay, Georgia returned to her quarters
and packed a bag. She needed sometime to digest everything and the only place
she could do that was in Mississippi.
