<USS Avalon> "Secure Interrogation"

 "Secure Interrogation"
by Lieutenant Commander Javan Sierra
& Lieutenant Felicity Roan

Felicity was sitting at her desk, trying not to focus on the gadgets
in the secluded room that she had seen upon her entrance to the
Counselor's office. Just then a tall brown haired man entered the
office. Judging by his pips, he was a Lieutenant Commander. Felicity
guessed this was the Mr. Sierra the Captain had said would stop by.

"Good morning, Mr. Sierra, I hope?" She stood and offered her hand
and an awkward smile. "Thank you for coming down. I am Lieutenant
Felicity Roan, the new Counselor and Interrogation Specialist. I look
forward to working with you aboard the Avalon. I suppose the Captain
has filled you in on the requirements for the Interrogation area that
he'd like put in place?"

"Actually," Javan started looking at the Counselor in an odd manner,
"he just told me to report here and you'd fill me in. I'm aware of
something about securing the room, but nothing more than that."

"Well, okay. No problem. There is some interrogation equipment that
should remain sealed without the authorization of one Security
officer, one Medical officer and the ship's Counselor. I believe
we'll need Dr. Moreya to complete this task. Will you be able to at
least start the process with just the two of us?"

She fumbled uncomfortably. She noted that judging by his reaction,
he knew nothing of the equipment in front of him and tried to offer
her best explanation. "These materials were given to the Avalon by
Admiral Valdez for "special interrogations. Dr. Moreya and I both
appear to be of the opinion that perhaps it should not be on our
ship, however, it is only the Admiral's opinion that matters. These
materials are not to be used for my regular crew meetings." She
hoped that he didn't believe that it was her idea to use these gizmos
or for that matter, that they had come aboard with her.

Javan nodded, "I can start the procedure and lock down the area. I
can seal it myself without the doctor here, but still allow it to
recognize her. It's a standard lockdown procedures." He gazed at
the instruments again. He walked over and started programming the
security grid.

She studied him as he set about his task, trying less to be a
counselor and more of an observer as to what protocols he was in fact
putting in place to safeguard the crew and more importantly, Felicity
from someone misusing the equipment.

The equipment was crude, from Javan's definition. It didn't seem to
fit with the rest of the Starfleet decorum. It was like a sore thumb
that stuck out obviously. He looked at the long tentacle-like arms
jetting out from the solid metallic body. Javan, as strong-willed as
he like to think he was, couldn't imagine surviving long or
witholding any information.

She wasn't trying to be rude, but rather given her shy nature, she
wasn't sure what sort of subjects to cover with the Lieutenant
Commander. She had read from his file that at times, he could be a
bit short. No need to get off on the wrong foot.

"Thank you again for coming down and taking care of that. I really
appreciate it. I hope we don't need to use the equipment."

She waited until he had gone and resumed her studies of the crew
personnel files and struggled with where to begin. As the Captain had
indicated, there were several who were in need of a visit. She'd just
have to guess and hope she picked correctly.
