<USS Avalon> "Relationships" Lt. Skyler

"Relationships"
Lt. Skyler

Skyler was still in her ragged pair of sweats even though her sister thought
she should throw them out. Why on earth throw out a perfectly good pair of
comfortable sweats just because we had the "income" to purchase something
better? That was the difference between Soliel and Skyler. Skyler would make
do
with what she had, while Soliel had to have the best, the best of everything.
Maybe that's was why she was a Lt. Colonel and Skyler was still a Lt. Money
could get you a lot of things including power. Skyler wondered if her sister
used her sex appeal to get where she was, but that was none of her concern, if
Sunni wanted her to know she would tell her. Skyler had to admit that if
they weren't sister's she would definitely be interested in Soliel however
they
were sister's so that wasn't going to happen.

Growing up Skyler didn't think Soliel was the type of person she had turned
out to be. One who might use the family's money and her sex appeal to get what
she wanted. Back then they seemed, so Skyler thought, inseparable. Sunni was
always barging into Skyler's room or her thoughts and at times vice versa
would occur. Where one was you could usually find the other. That was until
they got older.

Even though Skyler was the oldest, Soliel was the more outgoing. She never
seemed to lack for companionship, be it male or female. There were times when
it would make Skyler jealous, as she was not the social butterfly her little
sister had become. It made it that much harder for her to find companionship
of any kind. Hoping it would change things Skyler decided to apply to
Starfleet Academy where she was eventually accepted.

Once at the academy she seemed to come into her own at least academically.
She found that she liked the sciences, particularly medicine. She took extra
courses in medicine to further her knowledge and hopefully someday her career.
While at the academy it was the first time that the two girls had been
separated for any great length of time. They spoke occasionally via subspace
and
sometimes by letter. Skyler was starting to feel a distance between them that
hadn't been there before. She wasn't sure what it was but it was disturbing to
her.

During one of her trips home Skyler noticed a change in Sunni. She had
become more out going than she already was. Although Sunni was only 19 she had
become more confident, and more of a take charge person. This seemed to
coincide
with her meeting Veronica, or Ronni as she was known to the family. The two
of them seemed to be good for each other. Soliel didn't seem to need a new
companion every other day, instead she was spending the majority of her time
with Ronni. Before she left to return to the Academy, Sunni informed her of her

intent to apply to the academy as well.

Skyler was in her final year of medical school when Sunni joined the
Academy. They tried to see as much of each other as they could, but of course
schedules conflicted, still they managed. She was glad to hear that Sunni and
Ronni
were still together as Skyler did think that Ronni was a good influence on
her sister.

Skyler graduated in the top of her class and was assigned to the USS
Excelsior as AMO. During her time there she worked hard and managed to advance
to
the rank of Lt. A rank she still held to this day. A rank that she had hoped
she could leave behind and move forward. She did her best to hide her
unhappiness from her family, especially when Sunni graduated and advanced
quickly
through the ranks to Lt. Colonel.

To make matters even worse is that the two of them were reunited on the HCS
Avalon, where Sunni was the second officer, Lt. Colonel Soliel and she was
still plain ordinary Lt. Skyler, CMO. Skyler wasn't sure how this had all
occurred but there it was in her face plain as day. Her little sister was now
her
boss. Life had not turned out as Skyler had expected it to. Was it any wonder
she went through the motions of her job and envied her sister.

She enjoyed the times when they were just Sky and Sunni but those were few
and far between at least so far. Perhaps as the mission went along that would
change, perhaps Skyler would get up the nerve to talk to her sister about
moving up in the ranks, or perhaps things would stay the same.

There was something about sister's and their relationships. What it was
Skyler hadn't a clue.
