<USS Avalon> Re: "Officer on Deck" Cailin Danaan and Keith Ketchum

Note: The following incident takes place just prior to Ketchum's last log.

Dinner with Ezri was brief. She had been glad to see her
again, but having been too far from the center of things for so long, Cailin
really didn't have much to contribute to the conversation. Most of their
missives
were of the time they had known one another. That, too, had been brief. Ezri
had been on the Destiny and not even a full counselor at the time. They had
been
introduced during a brief break in the fighting only months before the
Tambora's ill-fated battle in which three hundred seventy-three men and women
had
died.
She left and walked back to the Promenade, considering
briefly stopping back in at Quark's for another Purple Dragon, but figured it
was
getting late--not that it made a difference in the Ferengi's establishment--and
that she really ought to be getting on board the Avalon.
Locating a directory, she searched for the port where the
ship was docked and headed for it. She didn't have far to go before she reached
the airlock, and, keying in her clearance code, crossed through the adjoining
spaces into a brightly lit corridor. Her eyes needed minimal time to adjust to
the difference in lumination, so without hesitation Cailin headed for the
nearest turbolift.

Keith walked down the deck two corridor towards the lift, he was
heading to find John on the station. He was in plain clothes, hoping to
blend in somewhat.
The lift stopped on deck two and she emerged from it, and walked
around the corner and right into him.
"Excuse me," Cailin said to the man as he helped steady her.
She studied his face a moment before asking, "Can you direct me to the
Captain's office?"
"The Captain's office, yes, it's down and around the corner,
room 2-01. But he's not there at the moment. I heard he has stepped off to
pay a visit to Deep Space Nine."
Cailin was disappointed, but he could hardly be faulted. It
was late, after all, and she wasn't due in until morning.
"Can I ask who you are? Maybe if I see him, I'll tell him
you are looking for him."
She smiled. "Dr. Cailin Danaan. I'm Avalon's new counselor."
Wow, that requisition wasn't in that long, he thought to
himself. "Welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy your stay on the Avalon. You
might
check with Lieutenant Waterson, she is Acting Operations Manager for your
quarters assignment."
He entered the lift, "No problem, and like I said, when I
see the Captain," in the mirror, "I'll tell him you are looking to meet him."
He grinned as the doors closed between them.
Cailin had been about to ask the officer's name when the
turbolift doors snapped closed between them. She shrugged, and went in search
of
Lt. Waterson.
