<USS Avalon> Re: News

Oh my goodness! Poor Josh! How much more you gonna torture the poor kid?!
::winks::
I can't wait to read more!

Mac shook his head as he and Josh left sickbay. "Why shower before you work
out? Your just going to have to shower again? If we wait too much longer the
gym will be too crowded with the Beta shifters."

Josh shrugged.

"okay...fine...how about if I just meet you in the gym, then? I'll go hold us a
spot, okay?"

Josh shook his head.

"No? No what? What now?"

"holodeck two," Josh answered quietly as they reached their quarters.

Mac looked at him as though he'd lost his mind. "Oh, hell no! We're not doing
that damned program of yours again, Hell! No! I thought you meant 'work out'
work out, not 'get all messed up in closest thing to hell you can visit while
living' work out. You work out in the gym. You recreate in the holodeck. You
don't run programs that are designed to want to kill you." He swore vehemently
as Josh just shrugged again. "Dammit, you really do need some serious help, you
know that?"

Yet again, Josh shrugged as he silently keyed in the entry code to their
quarters. Mac shook his head and followed him in. He noticed the flashing
light on their comm console, indicating that there were messages waiting, right
away. No big surprise, though. Someone from his family called almost every
night, so he'd expected he'd missed at least one call from them while they were
incapacitated. Josh took no notice of it, knowing that it was highly unlikely
it would have been for him. Instead, he headed for the shower. This is why it
suprised them both to find an encoded message from the USS Starfire for Joshua.

"Check it out. Maybe it's a girl," Mac grinned. "Somebody missed you while you
were away?" Josh looked at Mac as though he'd lost his mind, as, laughing, Mac
headed to the replicator to grab a bite and to give him some privacy. A moment
later, he heard a deafening crash. He came running to find the video terminal
on the floor across the room in pieces, and Josh nowhere to be seen. Even as
Mac ran out to find his friend, his uncharacteristic outburst making perfect
sense in the light of the message he'd recieved, the audio component of the
message continued to loop, repeating and repeating it's news into the emptiness
of their quarters...

"...It is my sad duty to inform you of the death of Ensign Zachary Garrity..."
