“Points of a Triangle”
by Junior Lieutenant Savannah Eckstein
Ensign Evan Benevente
& Ensign Garrett Stevens
Garrett had no ambition to unpack his quarters, he knew it needed to get done but he figured it was something that could be put on hold for a while, besides he didn't plan on spending much time there anyway. A cocky smile spread his lips at that thought, Garrett planned on having some fun during his time on the Avalon. He only hoped he could find someone to have fun with – that’s what he wanted. Thinking those thoughts, he stepped out of his quarters and headed down the corridor, deciding to explore this, quite famous ship, for a while.
"You're just jealous."
"I am not."
"You are too!"
"Because you're going out with a male counselor? Oh, yeah, definitely reason for me to be jealous. Savvy, the man probably irons his shirts and his pants," Evan Benevente wasn't jealous in the least, but he had seen people like Garrett Stevens in his life and they were bad news. "Just be careful, all right?"
Savannah Eckstein smiled, "tell him that."
"No kidding."
"Thanks for walking me to the holodeck, Ev. I always enjoy our little chats and banters," Savannah ran a hand through her hair and smiled at him in that special smile. It didn't matter her words dripped with sarcasm because Evan always knew she was joking. That was their type of relationship. With that, she parted his company and walked into the holodeck to wait for Garrett.
The holodeck loomed in front of him; Garrett knew that Savannah was on the other side waiting for him. Taking a moment to make sure he still looked good, straightening his clothes and fixing the hair, Garrett placed on of his more charming smiles on his face, not his best but close, and walked in through the doors. "Savannah, good to see you again." He said, looking her over, truly enjoying seeing her again.
She sat on a little floating pad and held a phaser in her hand. "It wasn't that hard of a request, was it? Blue. You'll look amazing in blue." Savvy placed the phaser on the board and stood up, staring him up and down. "Do you really intend on playing hoverball in that?" She put her hands on her hips and waited for a response. She glittered in the artificial light. She had on some type of blue nylon shorts and a matching sports top. Savannah looked damn good if she could say so herself.
The smirk changed to a chuckle at Savannah's words. "I haven't had time to unpack yet. This," Garrett said, motioning down to his clothes, "is all I have at the moment." Though, Garrett was sure that even if he played in suitable clothing, he would still lose. Savannah's body was a distraction, even more so in that outfit, with her hands on her hips.
"Excuses, excuses," she shook her head playfully at him, "how about a counseling session instead? I need a psychological evaluations added to my Starfleet Profile and I can't think of a better person to do it. What do you say?" Savannah was anything but shy. She was aggressive and she knew it; hell, everyone knew that she was about as shy as a ravenous mountain lion on a hot summer's day.
"Well now, I think that can be arranged. Though I should warn you, even if I do give you one," or something else, Garrett thought to himself before continuing, "Counselor McKinsely will still call you in for a real evaluation, mine won't count." It was only after the fact that Garrett realized he probably should have kept his mouth shut about that but he inwardly shrugged and decided he would figure out a way to use it for good for him.
Savannah's heart dropped. She didn't like counselors that she didn't like. It was a weird feeling for her, but she shrugged it away nonetheless. "Well, that's too bad. I don't know what else to do until you finish unpacking all of your stuff. Do you have any ideas? Maybe we should just have lunch or something and talk about ourselves so we get to know each other." She smiled at him, but it had that evil tint that she put there on purpose.
"Go to lunch and talk huh?" Garrett asked, silently thinking it over in his head. "I guess that's acceptable for the time being." He winked at Savannah and was about to turn and head towards the doors when he remembered Savannah's outfit. "Of course, the next question is, where do we eat? And do I get to see you change?" A roguish grin broke out on Garrett's lips as he looked her body and outfit over once more.
She folded her arms and sort of scoffed at him, "Boy, aren't we a bit courageous. I wish more men on this ship would that type of stance. Most of them are just into talking and having a good time when they really don't know what a good time really is." She took a step towards him and leaned into his shoulder. Smirking, she whispered, "You don't get to see anything quite yet. Meet me in the lounge in twenty minutes." With that she strolled out the door towards her quarters.
Savannah sparked interest in Garrett and he was going to enjoy spending time with her. Shaking his head, he followed her out of the holodeck but headed in the opposite direction towards the lounge. Of course, he wasn't about to let Savannah get too far away without turning around and taking another long good look at her. "Definitely worth the time of day," he said to himself softly before turning and heading to the lounge.
"You." Evan Benevente stepped out of an adjacent corridor and stopped in front of the new ensign. His demeanor was purely business and his stance was rigid. Through almost gritted teeth, Evan stated his purpose, "Listen to me. You treat her like a lady and if I hear that you've hurt her in any way, shape, or form, I swear to whatever God you believe in that you'll regret it. Savvy means a lot to me as a friend and I won't stand by and watch some sex-crazed ensign take advantage of her psyche. You hear me?"
"Woohoo, chill," Garrett said, holding up his hands. "No need to go psycho. Savannah is a big girl and I won't be taking advantage of anything. Anything that happens between us, she will enjoy so thoroughly that she'll think she's taking advantage of me." He stated, his attitude cocky and arrogant.
The nerve of the man sent Evan nearly over the deep end. Grabbing the man by the collar he shoved him against the wall and this time through fully gritted teeth, Evan stated his intentions once again, "Listen to me you arrogant son of a bitch. I've been through hell and seen pieces of garbage like you curl into little balls and pray for their mothers after what I've done to them. Make no mistake that I'm dead serious." His eyes narrowed again.
Garrett wrapped his hand around Evan’s wrist and turned, forcing Evan to lose his grip and pushed him away. "Hear me, old man. I didn't come here to be threatened and insulted by psycho security officers. Savannah is a big girl, she can make her own decisions and as for you, you can go to hell for all I care about but you grab my shirt like that again and you will learn a lesson I'll be more then happy to teach you." Garrett straightened out his shirt and gave Evan a disgusted look. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date in the lounge." He moved to make his way around Evan and to the turbolift.
Rolling his eyes he waited for Garrett to move past him. In a blurring motion, Evan kicked Garrett's knee, dropping him to his knees and then wrapped his arms around the man's neck. "Old? That's experience, pup. I've warned you, I'm not going to tell you again. Be cautious, boy."
Most of the time Garrett was up for a good fight, a good challenge but at that moment, he didn't feel like fighting. Pushing Evan off of himself, he stood and looked his opponent in the eye, "so you've warned me, you've done your duty, can I leave now, sir?" Garrett asked, frustration in his voice.
"Of course." Backstepping, Evan kept his eyes locked and walked around the corner out of sight. The little bastard would learn and would treat her like a woman - otherwise there was going to be a load of hell to pay. Savvy knew how to handle herself; Garrett knew that and so did he.
Garrett shook his head as he stepped into the turbo lift. Evan was seriously underestimating him but Garrett knew that was something he could use to his advantage when the time came, he only hoped that it didn't, not for a while at least.
Savvy sat in the lounge booth and waited, nearly drumming her fingers on the nice tabletop. She blinked a couple of times and waited for him, something was keeping him. She thought about it and realized it: look at her, she thought, she was gorgeous funny and brilliant. A little self-centered as well, but that was negligible. Savannah just had to wonder what was going on because it surely wasn't her that kept him away.
Walking into the lounge, Garrett forced himself to forget about his encounter with Evan, which was easy to do when he saw Savannah sitting alone in a booth, looking bored. He moved up next to her and smiled down, "You look good." Smoothly, he slid into the seat across from her. "And sorry I had to keep you waiting, something came up that I was forced to deal with."
"What did you have to deal with?"
"Nothing of overly great importance," Garrett smiled at her. "Have you ordered yourself something to drink yet?" he asked, changing the subject as easily as he could, he only hoped that the ploy would work and she wouldn't ask anymore questions about his delay.
"I haven't ordered yet, but I'll take a Samaritan Sunset, untapped of course," Savannah smiled at him across the table, "but tell me more about you."
