"Perfect Timing."
By: Ensn Melanie Redgrave

The forensic labs were amazing. They had the latest technology and even a few
updated pieces of equipment that Melanie was surprised to find since the ME’s
office back in Pittsburgh hadn’t gotten them yet. She walked around the labs
making herself familiar with her new surroundings, wondering where her
department CO was, and thinking about her conversation with Georgia. The kind
old
nurse had given her so much to think about, though she was sure she did know
she
had. The things she said, the questions she asked, and that look. For the
briefest of moments Georgia had looked at her as if she knew her. Had she seen
something familiar in her?

Melanie walked into the DNA lab and looked around. She walked over to the
blood analyst scanner and trailed a finger along it. Until now all her
research,
all her work, had been done though transit records, services records, death
records, paper clippings, and long boring conversation with library computers.
But now she had the chance to get rock hard biological evidence to verify all
she’d found out. All she needed was a sample of the blood Georgia had taken
from her and a sample from.....

"Computer where are the blood samples taken from the crew kept?" Melanie
asked as she leaned against the cold steel lab table.

The computer chirped and then replied. "In the biological compound
refrigeration unit in medical lab one."

Melanie nodded her thanks to the computer as she started to chew on the nail
of her left thumb. How could she get the samples she needed? Could she just
walk right in and draw what she needed unnoticed? She had to try but when?

"Ensign Daros this is Commander Skyler I need you to report to the Captain's
ready room immediately. Dr. Idrys this is Commander Skyler I need you to
report to the Captain's ready room immediately."

Daros was her DCO and Idrys must be the doctor on call. "Perfect." Melanie
said as she quickly reached for an empty sample kit. She loaded the small gray
box with two extraction needles, two purple topped test tubes, and two labels.
She’d wait a few minutes to make sure the calls weren’t repeated which
would
mean everyone was in the ready room and then she’d go get her samples and
soon
her proof.
