<USS Avalon> Perchance A Dream

Perchance A Dream
by Captain Keith Ketchum

The ship was proceeding along toward their destination smoothly. Keith sat
in his office, going over reports that were there, nothing special or out of
the ordinary.

The chime rang to his office, "Enter", wondering who it could be, as he
hadn't called anyone, and not to many sought out the Captain.

As the doors parted, Phillipa Waterson entered, "I'm sorry to bother you
sir, but something has been nagging on my mind since before we arrived at
Betazed."

"Of course, come in, please sit. Anything to drink?"

"No, Sir, thank you." She walked over to the chair and sat.

"So, what seems to be on your mind?" He leaned back in his chair and was
prepared to listen.

"It's just something", she paused, "I don't know. A dream, but it was so
real, I don't know."

"Can I try?"

"Of course", she looked at him peculiarly, wondering what he meant.

"In your dream, were you a security officer?"

She nodded, not sure how he knew.

"And you served with me there."

Again she nodded.

"And in this dream", he paused this time, "did we, umm", stammering slightly.

"Yes", she stated, matter-of-factly, really looking at him strangely.

"Interesting. I'm not sure how it was possible, this 'shared' dream, and
I'm sure that's all it was. I wouldn't worry about it. The ship probably
passed through some odd spatial anomaly causing us to share a dream. What
might
be interesting is if the entire ship shared it too, but different parts to
the dream." He shrugged, "But as I said, I wouldn't worry about it, I'm not."

"Thank you, Sir", she stood up, "it was just an odd feeling. Thank you
again for your time, and I'll see you on the bridge."

"Anytime. Have a good day, Ms. Waterson."

And with that, she returned to the corridor, and headed to her quarters to
prepare for her shift.

Keith turned to the window and wondered who else might have dreamed this
dream, but he put the thought out of his mind. "Perchance a dream...
perchance
a dream." As he turned back the pile of PADDs on his desk.
