One Physical Down, One to Go
-- Joint log by
Commander Skyler and Doctor Roan
Having just signaled Skyler for her physical and been given the green
light, Felicity quickly made her way to the turbo lift and headed for the
Commander's quarters. She could have just as easily sent Georgia to do the
physical,
but Felicity was interested in seeing how her Mental health was holding up
under the scrutiny, and not from a Counselor's point of view, but from a peer
perspective. She didn't have all the facts of the infamous showdown, and
frankly, didn't much care who was wrong and who was right. It was more
important,
given the current state of affairs, that their differences were put aside and
we
moved on.
She arrived outside the Commander's quarters and rang the chime, waiting
for her to grant entry. While she waited, she made small talk with the
Security contingent outside. It was odd to see the officers outside, like
Skyler was
a criminal of some sort.
Skyler was sitting in her quarters contemplating her current state of
affairs. Mehdi had already left for his duty shift so she was alone again. She
was acutely beginning to wonder how long this farce was going to go on.
Especially when she knew damn well that Javan wasn't staying in his quarters.
What
could she do? At least she had Mehdi. But how long would that last. She
certainly didn't know.
As she was sitting there she heard her door chime go off. She wasn't
expecting anyone. But at this point a visit from anyone was better than
nothing. Even Georgia had stopped coming by. Georgia really had to be upset
with
someone for her to stop seeing that person. Skyler vowed that when this mess
was
all over she would make it up to Georgia. After all, Georgia had gotten her
through a great deal in her career and in her life. She couldn't let Georgia
go,
not after all they had been through together.
The chime rang again and this time Skyler replied ," Enter" She still
didn't know who it would be, but it would break up the monotony of the day.
The door opened and in walked the good Doctor, who was also her
temporary replacement.
This was definitely going to be an awkward meeting.
"Good Day, Doctor. How may I help you?"
Once inside, Felicity produced her attempt at a peace offering, Diet
Pepsi. "I wasn't sure you'd had one in a while." She smiled and produced her
tricorder, "This will take just a few moments, Captain's orders for a physical
and
all." And with a wave of the tricorder, began to bring Skyler's data
up-to-date, "Any new medical conditions or problems to report?"
Skyler took the offered Pepsi. "Thank you, but you really didn't need
to go to all this trouble. I actually have been able to get a fairly decent
supply of my Pepsi. The gesture is appreciated though."
Skyler was trying not to sound to awkward or peeved at the Doctor. It
wasn't her fault that she was placed in this position. The Doctor was just
doing her job and nothing more.
"Actually, there is nothing new to report Doctor. Other than I am
getting very tired of all this baloney and this confinement. Especially
when......well there is no need to bother you with my thoughts on the whole
affair. I
am sure you have heard more than you want to. So how are things going with the
"rifts?"
Felicity nodded and continued her scan and paused to consider the results
of what the tricorder had collected, "I know that this enforced vacation
hasn't been easy, but it's probably closer to being over now, don't you think?
Unfortunately, we don't know anymore about the Rifts I'm afraid then when we
arrived. Half the ship is trying to figure out what's going on, but alas,
nothing
to report so far. A bit frustrating if you ask me." She paused to tap a few
buttons more before handing out the verdict to Skyler, "Well I have good news
that you appear to be in the same condition as before, which is fit as a
fiddle, Commander Skyler. I understand that the Counselor has visited already
for
your mental evaluation. This is a partner to that evaluation for the
Captain's review. Do you have any other questions for me before I return to
Medical
and send this off?"
Skyler took a drink of the Diet Pepsi and thought for a moment. She
really wanted to know what was going on with Javan and Caine, she wasn't going
to
put the Doc in such a position. Actually the only thing she could think of
was something the doc probably couldn't answer.
"Well, I was wondering if you had any idea how much longer this
confinement was going to last? Frankly I think it has gone on longer than it
needs
to, but I am not the captain. I know I am putting you on the spot, but you did
ask if I had any questions. I don't expect you to answer, as I am sure you
have
your orders and I don't want you to break any orders. No need for anyone else
to get in trouble."
"Well, unfortunately, only the good Captain has the answer to that
question. Again, I know this must be incredibly difficult for you. I wish I
had
better answers for you, but you know the Captain tends to be a bit tightlipped
when it comes to matters of the crew personnel. I wish I had more information
from you, but I was asked to do this physical and send him the information as
soon as possible." Felicity gave her a look that let her know that she truly
didn't know any more than she had to offer, which given the fact that she was
the acting second officer, made her a bit uncomfortable.
Skyler just smiled and looked at the doctor. "I don't think there is
anything else. I hope all is going well for you and that the Captain isn't
giving you too much trouble. If he does just remind him of a certain incident
regarding the Romulans and a neutral zone." Skyler just chuckled knowing that
the
Doctor had no idea what she was talking about.
Felicity smiled at Skyler and turned to leave, "Umm, okay then Commander I
will make sure he's aware. Thank you for taking the time to see me, I know
that you haven't had an easy time of it, so your willingness to have the
physical on such short notice is greatly appreciated on my part. I wish you a
nice
afternoon."
"Thank you for stopping by. Even if it was the Captain's orders. It was
nice to see another face besides those goons outside my door. Feel free to
stop by anytime. My door is always open, at least to anyone coming in."
Pausing just a few more seconds outside, Skyler's quarter's to reflect on the
situation, Felicity decided it was time to signal Mr. Sierra and finish her
physical duties for the day. "Dr. Roan to Mr. Sierra.... "
After the Doctor had left, Skyler returned to her chair and finished
the Diet Pepsi. She also resumed her contemplation on the outcome of this
entire
situation. It had just become that much more interesting with the Doctor's
visit. Was the Captain really ready to make his decision or was he just trying
to buy more time? Only time would tell..........
