****Takes Place before going to battle bridge*****
"No More Games"
Cmdr Skyler & Yeoman Amelia Renaldi
The cabin was softly lit as Mia sat on the couch in Skyler's quarters. Her
mind racing with so many thoughts. Her last evening spent with Skyler had
thrilled her and scared her to no end. She wasn't use to these feelings. It had
been so very long since she'd allowed herself to feel anything like this. Her
fear and confusion were the reasons she'd once again avoided Skyler. She'd
even sent Phillips to fill in for her at work.
Skyler left the bridge and headed to her quarter's. All shift long Phillips
had been bringing her reports to sign instead of Amelia. She wasn't sure what
was up with that. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that
Mia had been avoiding her. She didn't know what to think anymore. She entered
the lift telling the computer to take her to deck 3. She felt the lift begin
to move and leaned against the wall thinking. It was a short lift ride so
she didn't get much thinking done. Exiting the lift she made her way to her
quarter's and entered. When she entered she noticed the dimly lit lights and
Mia
sitting on her couch. "Is there something I can do for you?"
"You have a nice view." Mia answered as she continued to look out the
window. Slipping into her playful teasing brattiness was a natural way of
protecting herself. "Though I could think of a better one if you took your
clothes off
for me."
Skyler could see that the brattiness was slipping in and she didn't like it.
"Actually, I have had a stressful day and was going to take a hot shower,
change into something more comfortable and curl up with a good book. You are
welcome to stay if you wish."
Mia smiled as she turned on the couch so she could look at Skyler. "I wonder
how much that darling sister of yours would pay me to get rid of those nasty
sweats of yours."
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with these sweats, and so help me if I
find out that someone has done something to them I will make sure that they
pay. It will be my personal pleasure in watching them squirm."
Taking that as her way of pressing buttons and reestablishing her control,
Mia hopped off the couch and grabbed for the clean sweats which were laid over
the back of one of Skyler's chairs. She then darted towards the replicator.
Skyler didn't get up to move to chase Mia. It was only a pair of sweats and
she had more where that pair had come from, not that anyone else need know
that. "You throw those in that recycler and I will have to put you across my
knees again. Is that what you want?"
The threat hit a cord and it not only caused Mia to wonder why this woman
bothered, but it pissed her off. She was trying to regain the upper hand
again,
not be forced to admit she could loose herself in this woman. Holding the
pair of ratty old sweats over the bin she smiled coyly at Skyler. "I know
about
the others. I'll get to those too. Replace them all with nice silks and
satins."
"You think you know all about the other ones do you? Who knows silk's and
satins might be nice, but you will never get rid of my ratty sweats, not if
you
know what is good for you." Skyler remained seated in her chair watching Mia.
This wasn't how this was supposed to play out. Skyler was supposed to chase
her, Mia would have thrown the sweats at her and then kissed the older woman
until she was breathless. Then she would have been in the palm of Mia's hand
again. Fine if she wants to play her own way, I'll play along. Mia tossed the
gray sweats into the bin and watched as they were turned into a bright
orange mass of sparkles. "Oops."
Skyler watched as the sweats disappeared, "Hmm, I guess you win some you
lose some. Guess I will just have to pull out another pair at a later date."
Skyler got up from her chair and walked into her bedroom and changed into
something different and walked back out into the main area with a drink in
her hand and a book she had been waiting to read. "Like I said there are more
where those came from and some that neither you nor my sister will find."
She was curious as to what was going through Mia's head but she wasn't going
to pry. She would tell when the time was right.
Mia blinked as a rush of anger and disappointment washed over her. Why the
hell wasn't Skyler acting the way she wanted her too. Biting her lip, she had
to think a moment. Finally she smiled, walked over, took the drink from
Skyler's hand, and then walked over and sat on the couch. "Guess your all talk
these days, hmm? I know how hard it must be to have your age catch up to you."
"All talk about what? And what does my age have to do with anything? I told
you before I wasn't going to play games, and that I cared too much about you
to let you provoke me into something."
"Oh nothing. Nevermind." Mia purred before downing Skyler's drink.
"I thought we agreed no more games, no more teasing etc?"
Mia suddenly looked away.
Skyler sat there debating on what she should do. She wasn't going to play
games anymore yet somehow she had to prove that Mia was worth caring about.
"Mia, look at me."
"No." Mia replied in a soft shaky voice.
Standing up, Skyler walked over to where Mia was standing. She placed her
hands on Mia's shoulder's turning her around so that she faced her. "Now, tell
me what is wrong?"
Mia looked into Skyler's stormy green eyes. She was held there for what felt
like forever before she finally tore away from Skyler's hold. "Nothings
wrong. I just wanted to come play. That's all."
Taking Mia's hand she led her to the couch where they both sat down. Looking
at Mia Skyler sighed. "Mia, you don't have to come here to play. I told you
before that I am not going to play games. You know how I feel and that I care
about you and want you in my life. If you think that the only way you can be
in my life is to play games you are wrong. When are you going to understand
that?" Skyler hesitated, then leaned in and gently kissed Mia, gently pulling
at her lower lip before letting her go.
"Skyler.." Mia sighed, her body starting to tremble with frustration.
"What...." Skyler pulled her close to hold Mia and could feel her tremble.
"What's the problem?"
Mia allowed Skyler to hold her for a moment before her emotions took over
again. She tore herself away from the older woman, stood, and walked to the
other side of the room. Taking deep breaths she tried to think of a way to use
this, to play with this, to protect herself. She couldn't come up with
anything.
Skyler again walked over to Mia and put her arms around her holding her
tight. "What are you afraid of? What are you running from? I'm not letting go
until you tell me. That's a promise you can count on." Skyler pulled her close
and held her tight, she wasn't running away from her again.
"Please, Skyler." Mia asked as she rested her head on Skyler's chest. "Don't
do this to me."
"What am I doing to you? Talk to me please. I care about you and I want to
help but you have to let me. I'm not going anywhere." Skyler placed one hand
on Mia's head holding it against her chest while holding her with her free arm.
"That's just it." Mia replied. She would have torn away again but she
suddenly felt to weak to fight against Skyler. "You can't care about me. I
won't
let you."
"It's a little too late for that. I already care about you and nothing you
do is gonna change that. So you might as well get used to it." Leaning down
Skyler gently kissed her.
When the kiss ended, Mia could no longer keep the tears from her eyes. "I'm
scared, Skyler."
"Scared of what?" Skyler gently wiped the tears away. "Everyone is scared at
some point. I know I am. I am probably just as scared now as you are. Talk
to me please?"
Mia shook her head.
Skyler cupped Mia's face in her hands. "Damnit talk to me."
More tears. "No!"
Skyler lifted Mia's chin up and looked into her eyes. She kissed the tears
away and kissed her again this time with just a little bit more passion. "You
are going to tell me. You are not leaving here until you do tell me. I am not
going to walk out on you or leave you. I want you in my life and I care
about you. That is something you are going to have to accept."
This time Mia did pull away. Wiping angrily at her tears she stared at
Skyler. "Don't make promises you won't keep! You'll walkway, everyone does."
"I am not everyone Mia. I don't know who hurt you or why they would want to,
but I am not them. It is not fair of you to compare me to them. I will keep
putting up with your bullshit until you realize that I am not going anywhere.
I don't intentionally break a promise I make. So If I make you a promise you
can pretty much count on it." Skyler didn't like seeing Mia crying and upset
like this.
Mia shook her head. "I can only count on myself."
"Have I ever not kept my word towards you?"
"Yes." Mia spat in a bratty tone.
"When?"
"When I threw your stupid old sweats away." Mia replied and then bit her
lip. She actually liked watching Skyler walk around in her sweats. Dumbass.
"Well, I can remedy that without difficulty." She picked up Mia and sat down
with her laying across her lap and spanked her butt until her hand got sore.
"There, now I have kept my word to you. I did what I said i was going to do,
but Mia, I am not going to spank you every time you want attention. That's
not what I want from you or for you."
Mia sobbed as she rested against Skyler. Then she sniffed. "I.. I.. Just
needed to know it wasn't a fluke. It..it's been a long time.. since I've...
felt.. anything."
Skyler held Mia in her arms and let her sob. "You needed to know what wasn't
a fluke?"
"You." She admitted. "That last time it wasn't just.. in the moment.. ya
know?"
Skyler looked astonished. "Me? Why would you think I or the last time was
some kind of fluke?"
"Because no ones ever.." Mia paused, her emotions ebbing wildly. "No ones
ever.. loved me before. Not truly."
Looking at Mia Skyler wasn't quite sure what to say. "Have you ever given
anyone a chance to love you or care about you?"
"Once." Mia admitted as she snuggled into Skyler. "She made a fool of me,
broke my heart, I swore I'd never let anyone do that to me again."
Holding Mia closer, "You can't let one person decide the rest of your life.
Not everyone is out to hurt you." She kissed the top of Mia's head as she was
talking.
"It was easier not feeling anything." Mia sniffled and wiggled, trying to
relieve some of the burn and sting in her bottom. "I played my games, kept my
control, protected myself. Until you came along and wouldn't play fair."
"Oh honey, playing games takes away from feeling anything. What do you mean I
wouldn't play fair?" She scooted around and held Mia so her butt was
cushioned more.
Mia was starting to not hate being so open with Skyler, though it still
scared her. "You wouldn't let it just be game."
Skyler looked into Mia's eyes and wanted to hurt the person that had hurt
her. "I've told you before I don't play games. I mean what I say."
"I'm starting to get that." Mia laughed lightly and wiggled a little more.
Skyler laughed, "What's the problem, got a sore butt do you?"
Mia turned so she could kiss Skyler and then pouted. "Don't tease."
Returning the kiss gently and softly, letting the kiss linger. "I won't"
"I want to believe you, Skyler, but all of this still scares me."
"Mia, everything has it's scary points, but most of the time the good out
weigh the bad. Letting yourself feel something for someone else is scary. It
means you are opening yourself up to that person and trusting that they aren't
going to hurt you and that they in return will open themselves up to you.
Sometimes you just have to take a chance."
Mia rested her head on Skyler's shoulder, picked up her hand, and started to
play with her fingers. It amazed her how strong and firm her hands could be
one moment and soft and caressing the next. "Is that what your doing with me?
Taking a chance?"
Thinking for a moment before answering Skyler finally replied, "Yes, I
suppose that I am. I was hurt as well by someone, but I'm not going to let that
ruin what, if any chance I have at happiness. I have my hopes and dreams.
Someday they may come true."
After kissing each finger on Skyler's hand, Mia asked. "Is it ok if we take
our time?"
Holding Mia felt right. There was something there. "Yes, we can take all the
time you need. I'm not going to push you into anything."
Hearing Skyler say that made Mia feel a little more relaxed. "And you won't
get to mad when I act like a brat and try to push you away even though I don't
want you away from me?"
"I can't say I won't get mad or frustrated, that comes with being with
someone. I can say I won't let you push me away. You are stuck with me if that
is
what you decide you want." She pulled Mia closer and held her tight not
risking anything more.
Mia closed her eyes and relax a whole lot more. "I'm sorry about your
sweats."
"That's ok, like I said, I have more. It irritates the hell out of my
sister."
Mia laughed before reaching up and kissing Skyler. With a smile she said, "I
could sure use a cool bath."
"I think I can accommodate you." She took Mia's hand and led her to the bath,
where she started in running. "Let me know if there is anything else you
need."
"A water buddy?" Mia asked as she wrapped her arms around Skyler's neck.
"Unless you don't like to play water sports."
"I never once said I didn't like water sports. I just don't want to rush you,
because once I get you in that tub or anywhere without your clothes on, I
can't guarantee what I will do."
Mia kissed Skyler again. "I'm not feeling rushed at the moment so it's ok if
you wanna join me. I'd like it if you did."
"Are you sure?" Even as she asked the question she was slowly undoing Mia's
top. She leaned down and kissed her gently, then with a bit more passion.
"Yes, Skyler, I'm sure." Mia replied simply.
