<USS Avalon> "No Mistakes"

"No Mistakes"
Lieutenant Colonel Soliel

The ship rocked when the fire blast from the attacking ship. There was
minimal damage but the hit did manage to knock lose a couple of conduits. The
lower section of engineering was filling with steam and smoke. Soliel was
dishing
out orders both verbally and telepathically from the second story cat walk.
A twinge of something in the back of her head made Soliel angry. That bitchy
woman from Security was giving Skyler a hard time again. She made a note to
have a word with the woman after the was all over. Drawing her attention back
to what was going on around her, Soliel looked down just in time to see one
of her engineers getting ready to walk into a stream of plasma steam.

Soliel slid down the ladder to the main floor and managed to push the young
man out of the way and into a wall. She held him pinned against the wall as
she looked over at another one of her people. âLopez! Get that goddamn leak
fixed!â

âYes, Chief.â

Turning back to the man she had pinned against the wall. Soliel had to
remind herself to keep her anger in check. âAre you stupid or just fucking
incompetent!â

The young man simply looked at Soliel with fear in his eyes. The look
actually amused her. Though she had never used the cattle prod, or even struck
one
of her people, she allowed the implied threat linger. âWeâre in the middle
of a red alert, Mister Douglas! That means you need to be twice as aware of
whatâs going on around you! You nearly walked into the plasma stream! Do you
realize that that could have melted the flesh right off you sorry ass
bones!â
The stream of plasma steam had been stopped so there was no real threat to the
boyâs safety when Soliel grabbed him by the uniform, pulled him harsh from
the wall, and then trust him away from her.

âIâm sorry, Chief.â The boy replied as he hit the deck plating with his
ass.

Soliel made her cattle prod hiss and sputter as she pointed to the doors of
engineering. âGet the fuck out of my engineering and away from me! Donât
come back until youâve retaken every one of the qualification tests that got
your pathetic dumbass out of the academy, and passed them with perfect
scores!â

The boy looked at her for a moment. The uncertainty of the truth behind her
words. âNOW!â She yelled. The boy scuffled to his feet and nearly ran out
of
engineering. Turning, Soliel eyed everyone of her engineers. âNext one to
fuck up retakes the entire last yearâs worth of engineering courses. Now get
back to work!â
