<USS Avalon> "New Orders" By Lt. Marksbury

"New Orders"
By Lieutenant First Class Elissabeth Marksbury

Marksbury was glad to see Petty Officer Brewer arrive in the security offices
early. It was still a bit rambunctious in the room, people hanging around even
when they weren't on shift to hear the latest gossip. Lissi motioned to catch
her attention and waved her to one of the general use offices, typically
belonging to whoever was shift supervisor at the moment.

Closing the door, she said, "First Ms. Brewer, I'd like to apologise. When I
set this meeting up, I didn't realise that it would be during your sleep
rotation. It hadn't occurred to me."

"Thank you, ma'am. I'm fine."

"Good. Since we're here, though, I figured it best just to get everything out
of the way so we can go on. You agree?"

"Yes, mma'am"

"Sit," Lissi told her, moving around the desk to sit herself. "Okay. You
obviously realise that things went very badly wrong last night."

Brewer nodded.

"This is a serious problem. Security breaches of this nature can endanger this
whole ship and its crew. I cannot allow that. Therefore, I am ordering that
you undergo some special training in the holodeck in addition to your regular
duties. If I see progress, then I will terminate the training. If not, then I
will place you in some remedial training classes that are going to be held
immediately following shore leave. Here is your new -" Lissi was interrupted
by her com-link.

"Ketchum to Ms. Marksbury, I know that we had some issues with the
Rydyns, but I want to talk to Ambassador Oonal and bring Ambassador Maratt,
also. Time to let them in on the reasons for the lockdown and our ETA
to Earth."

"Here is your new schedule," Lissi finished.

"Thank you, ma'am," Brewer said, taking the PADD.

"Don't be surprised if Commander Sierra wishes to see you since you are in the
reports I had to make. But I'll make sure to inform him the situation has been
resolved and chances are he won't bother. Things are resolved, correct?"

"Yes, ma'am. Thank you, ma'am." Brewer seemed relieved at the possibility of
not having to face Commander Sierra. Lissi couldn't exactly blame her. The
girl seemed to find Lissi intimidating. She could only imagine how she'd feel
in Sierra's presence. It was an effort on Lissi's part not to be intimidated
by the man and she wasn't easily intimidated.

"You're dismissed." Lissi tried to give her a reassuring smile as Brewer
exited the room.

Marksbury went to tap her com-badge to call for Ensign Dareth, but realised he
was off duty. She then chose another Ensign to escort Ambassador Maratt from
the brig to Conference room one on deck two. On second thought, she chose two
Ensigns.

On her way to Ambassador Oonal's quarters, she tapped her badge, "Marksbury to
Ketchum. I'm bringing the Ambassadors to Conference room one, deck two. You
may meet us when you're ready."
