Mistaken Identityby Lt. Joshua Garrity and Petty Officer Vevay Davis
Vevay was still in a daze about Ffej, she was so muddled she hadn't even had
the opportunity to read the notes on Lt Jameson that Gibson had given her this
morning. She rounded the corner and walked into yet another man. "God, sorry,
sir, I didn't mean to stumble into you." Glancing up, she saw the man was
coming out of the quarters she was heading for, so this must be Lt Jameson. She
saluted smartly and smiled. "Lieutenant, I am here to interview you about your
actions over the past few weeks."
Josh cast her a bewildered glance. Now? He was working. Couldn't this wait, he
wondered. Really not in the mood, he gave the slightest shake of the head,
holding up his work order and moved past her toward Jeffries tube ten.
"Sir, if you do not allow me to interview you, I will be forced to arrest you
and we will continue this conversation in the brig."
Josh shot her a completely bewildered glance and motioned for her to follow as
he entered, climbed then began to crawl through the narrow passageway.
"Are you out of your mind, sir?" When it was clear that he wasn't going to
stop, she pulled herself in after him. "Sir, where are you going, sir?"
Crawling along, she began to worry about the state of her uniform: she was
gonna look like an Engineer when he was done. She shuddered at the thought of
it. "Just great, perfect bloody start to the day."
Reaching his destination, he opened the access panel and began laying out his
tools.
"Well, I guess we're having the interview now." Pulling out her PADD, she set
it to record. "Please detail the events leading up to the death of John
Forester."
Josh shot her a blank look. John Forrester? He shook his head, shrugging
slightly. He knew nothing of it. Silently he began the task of rewiring.
"The Lieutenant has refused to answer," she said to the PADD. "Please detail
the exact nature of your relationship with the deceased."
He looked at her again. Had she lost her mind? He had no relationship with the
deceased. They'd never met. Again, he shook his head. Finishing up quickly, he
began to crawl again, exiting through an adjacent tube and walking briskly
toward Main Engineering.
Running to catch up with him once she fell unceremoniously out of the tube, she
told her PADD that he had once again refused to answer. "I am an officer of the
Judge Advocate General. You must answer my questions or face prosecution."
Josh finally stopped and faced her, confused and tired. It was far too early in
the morning for this, he thought. He opened his mouth to respond at last when
his comm badge sounded. "Marksbury to Garrity..."
"Garrity? Lieutenant Garrity?" Holy fuck! She'd done it again. "Shit, I'm so
sorry sir, I really am. I thought you were Lieutenant Jameson."
Josh looked at her as though she'd lost her mind. Jameson? He shook his head
and pointed to the file the young woman carried in her hand. One line, really.
The name. Susanna Jameson. He wondered if he really looked so very much like a
Sussanna to her.
"Lieutenant Jameson is a woman?" Glancing down at the notes about the
Lieutenant on her PADD she blushed even brighter when she read the entry under
gender: female. "Oh god, I'm so sorry. Please don't make a complaint."
Josh shook his head, shrugging slightly, his tired expression very gentle. He
wasn't about to complain to anyone. He pulled another work order as his comm
sounded again. "Marksbury to Garrity. Respond please."
Backing out of Engineering, Vevay set off at a run. "Oh God, my first lone
interview and I interview the wrong person!" Quickly reading the notes, she
realised the most likely place for Jameson to be was in Medical.
