<USS Avalon> Log-Deception

Deception

The as of yet unknown Engineer

The engineer had finished her shift, a grueling task of plasma conduit
maintenance, faulty circuit replacement, and of course, information gathering.

For the engineer was no mere engineer. She worked a shifty market who's sole
product was the sale and passage of valuable information. In her case, engine,
sensor and weapon schematics. Federation technology was highly prized on the
Romulan black market, not to mention the interests held by the Cardassians,
Breen, Tholians. Oddly enough, even allies like the Klingons and Bajorans were
more than willing to take part in some of the more secretive niceties of the
Federation technology tree.

It appeared that only a few races weren?t actually interested in cashing in on
the Federation, namely the Vulcans and the Borg.

She smiled, remembering the poor bastard who had been sent as a negotiator to
the Borg. He had cried and pleaded, but when exposure was threatened he broke
and went. She snickered. He never returned. With her quarters safely secured,
she changed.

Changing for her involved deactivating one such Federation piece of wonder. She
brought her hand to her chest, placing it directly between her breasts and
manipulating the area with a specific pattern using her fingers. There was a
click, and her skin, clothes, hair and just about everything else melted off of
her body, vanishing in a molecular swirl of blue and green.

Holographic camouflage-clothing would replace cosmetic surgery in almost every
infiltration and espionage mission that the Federation (or the Romulans)
embarked upon. The engineer thought it felt like icy water running down her
entire body whenever she deactivated it.

The clothes themselves consisted of a single black band that wound around her
more private regions, starting as a loop around her right shoulder, curving to
cover both breasts then wrapping around her back to curve back and cover her
pelvic area in a kind of well placed bikini bottom. Her long, dark hair, which
had until then been concealed, fell down her back and bounced ever so slightly.

"Cocytus. You've secured the room?"

A partially formed creature, transparent in some areas, hissed at her. "Have
you brought me more of the inferior's programming? It would be nice to be
whole."

"Is the room secured?"

"Yes, of course it's secured. It's always secured."

"You'll get your payment when I receive mine."

The cat narrowed his eyes. "Fine."

"Call up Master."

"Yes your highness."

"I have told you repeatedly to call me mistress."

"And I have told you repeatedly to complete my programming."

"I can't. My tampering has become noticeable, and the inferior has become less
accessible."

"So make him more accessible."

"It isn't easy."

"Then make your own link to Master."

"If I didn't need you so much, I'd dispose of you."

"Oh...lucky me." The cat scowled and vanished.

"Fucker." She whispered under her breath.

"Connection established." The computer spoke.

"Master?" The screen remained blank.

"Thank you for contacting me, Sarah."

"I've told you not to call me by my name! The calls still could be traced."

"You worry far too much my child. Have you the information I require?"

"Yes. You should be receiving it...now."

"Excellent. You shall remain anonymous until needed again. Goodnight, Sarah."

Sarah said nothing, simply watching the screen switch from black to blue and
white. She absolutely hated the man who called himself Master, but the pay was
excellent. Five hundred thousand leaves of latinum. That equaled roughly five
thousand bars of pressed latinum. The galactic credits that that worked out to
was enormous. She only had six or seven months left until payoff. With all that
money, tax free of course, she could buy a small continent, maybe even a moon
or something. Master was a trivial man, and would become meaningless relatively
soon.

She reactivated her holographic disguise, assuming a more masculine form and
tonal infliction.
