<USS Avalon> Little Girl

Little Girl
by Lieutenant Caine Reilly McKinsely

Caine moved with the rest of the team to the shuttle. She wasn?t really sure
what to do, war was not her specialty, she was just supposed to worry about the
mental state of the crew.

Moving to the side and slightly out of the way, Caine lifted her arm away from
her side. Her sleeve had started to stick to the blood, which had slowed down
some but not enough for her not to worry some. Taking in a deep shaking
breath, Caine quickly surveyed the rest of the team; for the most part they
seemed to be okay. All of them were injured in some way but not enough for her
to truly worry yet.

The team was ragged looking and exhausted and Caine began to wonder how the
others on the ship were fairing. Thoughts of Hannah immediately pushed
themselves to the front of her mind. All day, Caine had tried not to think
about the wonderful little girl that was somewhere on the ship, hopefully
alive. Hannah was too young to be dealing with this sort of trauma; it could
seriously destroy the mental stability that Caine and Lieutenant Jeffreyi had
worked so hard to help her get.

This fight could be nothing but terrifying for such a young child. Caine sent
up a silent pray for the little girl that she had become so attached to during
her time on the Avalon. She also prayed that Lieutenant Jeffreyi would live
through the fight so that he could see his daughter grow up.

Sighing, Caine tried to push thoughts of Hannah to the back of her mind, she
knew that if she dwelled to long on the child that she would be no good to the
rest of the team. Gritting her teeth she moved her arm back to her side and
pressed her fore arm back into her wounded side. At the moment, her arm would
have to be its own bandage for her side. Taking a deep breath, she pushed away
from the wall and helped the team get the shuttle ready for departure.
