Lexie was born on the planet Zaran. Her mother was Zaran, her father Human.
Twenty-six years ago, Michael Daros, a civilian trader, crashed on Zaran. He
was taken in by an unbonded Zaran female, Marbeth and his injuries healed by
her. The two fell in love and despite her people's disapproval, bonded. Their
bonding produced a female child, Lexie.
When Lexie was 10, her father was killed by a predator. This left Lexie and
her mother alone. Fending for themselves was difficult in this tribal society,
even though the females of the species are the huntresses. The males were the
leaders and as such, gave out hunting areas to the females. Marbeth had
several offers of protection from various males, none of which she accepted.
Lexie learned early how to hunt and proved to be extremely good with the energy
coil her people used to hunt. She also proved to be good at repelling the
advances of the males, who began trying to claim her as soon as she turned 13,
the normal mating age of her people. Lexie was uninterested in mating,
figuring that she could take care of herself so why did she need a male?
When she was 15 a starship, the USS Armstrong, was doing a routine survey of
the planet and discovered the wreckage of Daros' ship. As they searched for
the owner or pilot, their sensors picked up Lexie's half Human life signs.
Beaming down a two man AT, they found Lexie and her mother. Marbeth, wanting
more for her daughter than was available on Zaran and also wishing Lexie to
know her paternal heritage, expressed her wish to leave the planet. The
Armstrong took both aboard and ferried them back to Earth.
Lexie was flung into the middle of an entirely new culture. Now she had to
prove herself all over again in new ways. She had been educated on Zaran, but
found she was far behind Terran children. She was placed in a Federation
school and found her mind challenged daily. Her self-esteem and attitudes were
also challenged by people who knew little or nothing about Zaran and it's
people. As a result, she developed a bit of a chip on her shoulder.
But she proved herself in class after class, exceling at subjects that the
teachers thought were far beyond her capabilities. She quickly caught up with
her peers and then bypassed them.
At age 17, she entered Stanford University and majored in Life Sciences,
specifically the xeno-subspecialties. After completing her undergraduate
degree, she left Earth and attended the Vulcan Science Academy. While she
worked on her degree there, she also studied Vulcan mind techniques, the Zaran
people having some small amount of psi-ability. She graduated with Honors.
As a result of her advanced training on Vulcan she was accepted into an
advanced program at SF academy. While there she completed both the basic core
for Science officers and Command requirements.
Her physical appearance is human, but if you look at her there is a hint of
something feral in her green eyes. She wears her long blonde hair in a
ponytail, a style she adapted after coming to Earth. After conquering her
doubts about herself and her culture, she has an aura of certainty about her, a
power seen in few beings of any sex or species. When she looks at you, she
seems to see not merely how you look, but what you are. She retains her "What
do I need a man for?" attitude though she finds them an interesting challenge
in a one-on-one contest of any kind.
Rouse her anger or her passion at your own risk, for when you do you will see
her Zaran side which she keeps hidden as a rule, prefering to operate from her
Human side. Much the reverse of Mr. Spock who sublimated his Human side in
favor of the Vulcan.
Definitely a carnivore as a result of her upbringing on Zaran, she takes a
nutritional supplement to augment her diet and make up for the trace elements
she doesn't get from replicated food.
* Zarans - Native Zaran believed only example of hunting culture raised to high
level. Extremely hazardous planet, unsuited to agriculture, but with
plentiful game and exceptionally hazardous predators. Developed a strong,
highly adaptable species attuned to the hunt as science, art and basis of
social order and mating custom.
As in some felines -E.G., Andorian Grayth, Terran lions, etc - the females are
the primary huntresses.
Zaran females appear to have certain empathic and psionic powers used in the
hunt, in healing and in mating.
The Federation has kept mostly away from Zaran since the incident with the
Oneness and the Enterprise. The planet has evolved to an equivalent of the
lesser developed Federation worlds. It has been a Federation-protectorate for
many years and has recently applied for full membership.
