<USS Avalon> "Late for a Very Important Date" Cmdr Skyler and Ensign Melaine Redgrave

"Late for a Very Important Date"
by:
Cmdr Skyler and Ensign Melanie Redgrave

Skyler was in sickbay having just been treated by Dr. Cazook. She
still had her headache but at least the pain wasn't nearly as bad as it was.
Skyler had a feeling that it was related in part to her dealings with Melanie
as it
was with the dealings with Marksbury. In either case, she didn't have time to
worry about it. She was already late for an important meeting. It appears
that one Captain Keith Ketchum had managed to come aboard without informing her
and now he was calling a meeting. This did not look good.
She needed to have all the information available regarding the death
of Captain Flubb. That meant she had to deal with Ensign Redgrave. Oh
Joy....... She could do this. She was a Starfleet Officer and was trained for
this. On
her way out of sickbay she tapped her comm badge and called Ensign Redgrave.

"Ensign Redgrave, this is Cmdr Skyler. There is a meeting in the
conference room immediately with myself and Captain Ketchum. I would like you
to
bring all relevant information you have regarding the Flubb investigation. I
will meet you outside the conference room in 5 minutes. Skyler out."

Taking a deep breath Skyler made her way to the nearest lift, entered
and ordered it to take her to the bridge. Leaning against the wall, she made
sure to have all her defenses up and working. She was not going to let anything
happen to her during this meeting. Once the lift reached the bridge, she
exited and made her way to the conference room, where she waited outside for
Ensign Redgrave to appear.

Never before had the sound of one person’s voice sent so many
conflicting emotions through Melanie’s mind, heart, and soul. Anger,
confusion, fear,
dread, longing, respect, need, and even caring all washed through her as she
listened to Skyler sending for her. Melanie sighed as she looked down at the
reports she was working on and interviews she was rereading. She still hadn’t
much to offer and somehow she knew this wasn’t going to improve the mood of
her
commanding office.

“On my way, Commander.” Melanie finally replied as she gathered her
PADDS and headed for the door. She wondered if Skyler was feeling better and
what this meeting would be like. She had to keep it professional this time. Her
conversation with T’Arah running fresh in her mind. She was well aware of the
harm she could pose to Skyler if she forced her into anything dealing with
their sisterhood so as hard as it was, Melanie pushed any and all personal
emotions and thoughts down deep into her mind.

The turbo lift doors opened and Melanie headed for the doors of the
conference room. Melanie froze when she saw Skyler standing there waiting for
her. She took a deep breath, held it a moment, and then it go before walking up
to Skyler. "Reporting as ordered, Commander."

Skyler saw Melanie just about the same time that Melanie saw her.
Thankfully she had prepared for this moment and had her walls up, although she
wasn't exactly sure what good they were going to be. She looked at the Ensign
and
tried to see the family resemblance but she couldn't no matter how hard she
tried. She just couldn't remember.

"Good Day Ensign. Did you bring the requested material with you? I
certainly hope so, because there are going to be a lot of questions and I hope
you have the answers?"

Skyler was trying not to be harsh or cold but didn't want another
incident of what had happened in the conference room. She knew she didn't look
good but what the hell was she supposed to do?.......

Melanie handed Skyler one of the PADDS with her latest updates and
then went over the finer points. “I've come to the conclusion that the
subject is
male, between 6’1 and 6’4, left handed, has really bad taste in bad shoes,
and owns pair of said shoes with a bit missing in the sole.”

The hall was quiet when Melanie stopped and allowed Skyler to read the
PADD with the list of names of men she’d talked to, and summaries of her
interviews. She wanted to ask if she was all right, if she’d talked to
Georgia
yet, if she’d recalled anything, but she didn’t, she just stood there.

Skyler took the PADD's and read the information. It appeared that
Ensign Redgrave had been extremely through and had done an excellent job so
far.
Hopefully it would answer any question's that may be brought up. She looked up
at Melanie and nodded her acceptance of this information.

"It appears that everything is in order and that you have done a fine
job so far. I just wish we had the murder weapon. I am sure we will find it in
due time. If you are ready, lets go in."

Skyler let Melanie enter the conference room first and then followed.
When she entered she was quite shocked to see Captain Ketchum sitting at the
head of the table. She moved to her seat next to him.

"Captain, welcome back. How long have you been back?"

Skyler definitely thought she was well on her way to losing her mind,
she just hoped it wasn't during this meeting.
