<USS Avalon> Information, Please

=/\=

So we are on our way to Earth at last, Kaera thought to herself. Although
she was a very solitary soul, as Information Officer she knew everything that
went on onboard this ship. It was her job to know. It was also her job not to
talk about her job. So maybe it was a good thing that she hadn't made any
friends, and barely a few nodding acquaintances, in the months she had been
aboard.

Of course, there was no rule against making friends -- much to the contrary,
Kaera's advisor at the Academy had strongly suggested that she make an effort
to find friends on board her assigned ship. But she was naturally on the shy
side, and after several painful experiences at the Academy, she knew there
were plenty of people out there who still held a grudge against Cardassians in
general. She herself was a loyal Federation citizen with naturalization
documents to prove it, but those with prejudices had no way of knowing that.

From her small office in Information Services, Kaera had watched the Flubb
investigation unfold with interest. It puzzled her why anyone would have
wanted
to kill the Captain; his record did not indicate any possible reasons why
someone would have it in for him. There might have been a reason that would be
apparent to someone who knew him personally, but Kaera hadn't. She'd only met
him briefly when she came aboard.

The business of the nosy ambassadors she found amusing. Amusing because she
didn't understand why Starfleet Command had allowed them to observe shipboard
operations in such detail on the Avalon in the first place. It was certainly
against all the textbook regulations. Although, she realized, there were
rules that were made to be bent, and Command probably had a better idea than
she
did of when to bend them.

According to the information she had -- which was all the information
available -- they were due to arrive at Earth in the middle of her sleep cycle.

Kaera tapped in a command to be awakened when they entered the Sol system. She
wanted to watch the approach to her adopted world, the most beautiful planet
she'd ever seen.

Following that command, she logged out of her terminal, securing it against
anyone without the proper codes, and went to find something to eat.
