The final postings to the UCP are complete and as follows:
Hyrum James, Lieutenant, Engineer on the UCP Retrieve.
Lyryn Cate, Lieutenant, Tactical on the UCP Tempest.
Thomas Lynn, Captain, UCP Cormorant.
Jaycee John, Administrator, UCP Temporal Division.
Bradley Chad, Assistant, UCP Headquarters.
Joren Scott, deceased.
As it happens, my children have matured and moved on with the best training we
could?ve provided. Key places inside the UCP have been infiltrated. Their true
allegiance is buried so deeply in their minds that even the strongest of UCP
telepaths couldn?t question their loyalty. Now, we wait for that opportunity,
that sub-conscious program to direct them in their paths.
The Retrieve and Tempest are the flagships of the Temporal Division within the
UCP, sent to destroy any anomalous activity by their directives. The Cormorant
is an exploratory ship dispatched to the outer area of the Gamma Quadrant. The
others should be self-explanatory.
I shall finally see the results of my work come to pass! Let us rejoice for the
nearing of the end; the changes that will rid of us chaos and create a better
future for those in the past.
Regular updates on their progress to follow.

"Idealist," Brooks? contact said, closing his console and shaking his head.
"Our future lies in the defeat of the UCP, not in the changing of the past."

Lieutenant Lyryn Cate, Chief of Tactical and Covert Siege team of the UCP
Tempest stood before her sub-ordinates. The air was tense with excitement. This
was their first encounter with a ship from the past. The USS Avalon, over 500
years out of her time.
"We are to board, secure decks, and eliminate any life forms, allowing the
retrieval team safe access to the information they seek. Is this understood?" A
sharp pain in the back of her skull flashed instantaneously, though she showed
nothing on her ever-impassive face.
Solemn nods circled the room.
"Excellent, prepare your boarding teams."
"Chief?
Cocking one eyebrow, Lyryn looked at the girl who had spoken.
"Your nose..."
Touching her upper lip, the Lieutenant discovered a slight trail of blood.
"Pardon me," she said, as she stepped from the briefing room into her office.
Once she returned, she announced, "There has been a change in orders. Prisoners
only. In particular we are looking for Commander Skyler, XO of the vessel, for
interrogation purposes. I want her detained and I want to be alerted
immediately. I repeat, we are no longer under orders to kill. Detain only."
Confusion registered on their faces, but they nodded anyway.
"Let?s go."
***
"I don?t understand it! She went back with the Avalon days ago and nothing?s
changed. Not a thing! Our history still says the Avalon never returned to its
own time."
"There are others."
"But I?ve gone over the calculations time and again... unless... unless. Of
course! How blind was I not to see it?"
Settling back in his chair, the other man looked at Brooks.
"Quantum realities!" Brooks exclaimed, thinking that should explain everything.
***
"Captain Lynn, sir, I?m detecting a temporal anomaly at bearing
one-seven-four-point-two mark six-four."
"Set course, warp nine. Any Alliance vessels detected within range?"
"No, sir."
"Good, hopefully we?ll destroy it before they have a chance to gain access."
"Approaching anomaly."
"On screen," Thomas said with authority.
The multi-coloured rift swirled with the light of a thousand worlds, a thousand
portals that made him feel just how small the universe truly was. And how vast.
The Captain of the UCP Cormorant was struck speechless.
"Captain?"
"Prepare your K-phasers, six, according to Dr. Maris? design. Let?s destroy
this thing."
The blinding stab of pain left him reeling. Reaching out to steady himself on
the back of the helm station chair, Captain Lynn blinked and wiped away the
blood from his nose.
"Sir?"
"I?m fine, but belay that order. We?re going to study this rift. Helm, take us
in."
"Sir?"
"Were my orders unclear?"
"No, sir, it?s just..."
A menacing look crossed the Captain?s face, "Have I not earned your trust?"
"Of course you have, sir."
"Then take us in."
***
The end of the world found retired Commodore Loris Mensano staring at the
girl's holo-image while a tear trickled down his weathered cheek.
**Special Thanks**
This series was inspired by the umpteenth reading of 'Ender's Game' by Orson
Scott Card.
Political events were built upon those established by Anthony Manson in
"Catching Up With History, Parts One and Two".
And thanks to Liz for pointing out any flaws of creative design.
