<USS Avalon> Georgia and the Commander part 2

"Georgia and the Commander" part 2
Written by:
 Georgia Lewis & Cmdr Skyler

Georgia had finished her inoculations of the bridge crew and had
asked to speak with Cmdr. Skyler. Skyler motioned for Georgia to join her in
her
office.

"Waterson, you have the bridge, let me know if anything exciting
happens."

Waterson turned around from her place at helm and nodded at the
Commander.

         "Understood Commander."

Skyler shut the door behind her and offered Georgia a chair and
something to drink. She could tell something was bothering her old friend but
she
wasn't sure what it was.

Georgia waited patiently for Skyler to start the conversation, but
it didn't appear like that was going to happen. So Georgia took a deep breath
and started it for the both of them.

"Ms Skyler, do you ever get bothered by so much change happening so
fast? So fast that it almost takes your breath away and you don't think you
will ever catch up."

Skyler looked at Georgia and finally put two and two together.
Georgia was upset with all the changes that were occurring in sickbay at the
moment. Who could blame her. In less than a month she was on her second CMO and
Counselor. That would be a lot for anyone to handle. Let alone someone like
Georgia who didn't handle change well at all.

"Georgia, I know that there are a lot of changes going on in the
Medical Department right now. I also know that you don't handle change well,
but
you have to remember that change goes along with being in Starfleet. You never
know for sure where you will be assigned from one day to the next. Sometimes
you just have to take a deep breath and do the best you can. I know it's hard
but I have every faith in you, that you will survive these changes. Who knows,
you may even like the changes."

Georgia didn't look like she believed a word of what Skyler had just
said. But since Skyler had never lied to her, she had to believe that what
Skyler was telling her was true.

"Ms Skyler, I knows that I have to accept the changes because there
ain't anything I can do about them. It's just that they make me nervous when
they happen all at once, like they are happening now. I jest get used to one
Doctor's way of doing things and then another one comes along and changes
things
to their own way of doing things. I just don't want to screw up and look like
a hick fool in front of them fancy pants Doctor's."

Skyler just smiled. "Georgia, don't you know you could run circles
around those fancy pants Doctor's. You just have to have some confidence in
yourself. I know I have confidence in you. Otherwise I wouldn't have requested
that you be assigned to this ship. You are one of the best nurses I know and I
wouldn't want anyone else taking care of me. Now you just get those silly
ideas out of your mind and remember that I trust you and know you can do
whatever
you set your mind to. Besides who else can make a pecan pie like you can? No
One!!! Just be patient and everything will work out the way they are supposed
to."

Georgia looked at Skyler and knew that everything would be okay. The
two women got up and both hugged each other like the ole friends that they
were. Georgia then left the office and returned to Sickbay and Skyler resumed
her spot on the Bridge. All in all it was a good conversation for them both.
