"Forgiveness & Pecan Pie"
Jr Lt Georgia Lewis & Cmdr Skyler
Skyler still had one person left to talk to and to set things straight with
and that person was Georgia. How she could've ever considered her as a bad
person was beyond her imagination. Georgia raised her has one of her own. She
was the only family Skyler remembered before all this mess with Sunni or
Melanie had started.
She left her quarters and made her way to Georgia's. It had been a long time
since she had actually been to Georgia's quarters. Standing outside the door
she took a deep breath and rang the chime.
Georgia was sitting in her usual chair with the sweater on that Ms. Melanie
had given her. She looked like she was lost and forlorn. She heard the chime
and couldn't imagine who it would be accept for maybe Ms. Melanie. She
haddend heard from Ms. Skyler in a very long time and was beginning to think
that
she never would.
"It ain't locked so's you might as well come in." She was curious as to who
would be calling on her at this time.
She didn't even look up when the door opened to see Skyler standing there.
Skyler entered the room and walked over to where Georgia was sitting. She
kneeled down and grabbed the older woman's hands into her own. "Georgia, it's
me
Skyler. I have come to apologize for hurting you and for all the trouble I
have caused." She looked into the older woman's eyes for some sign of
recognition.
Georgia straightened up in her chair and looked at Skyler in disbilief. "Ms.
Skyler is that really you or is I dreamin'?"
"No Georgia you aren't dreaming, it's really me. I have come to ask your
forgiveness for all the trouble and pain I have put you through. I also came
to
Thank You for everything you did for me as a child and as a friend. I would
be lost without you."
Georgia was incomplete shock. She had waited for this day for so long that
she couldn't believe it was here. She reached up and touched Skyler's face to
make sure it was real. She then pulled Skyler to her chest and held her
tight.
"Oh my lordy!! 'tis really you!!" Tears were running down Georgia's face,
but this time they were tears of joy. She was holding onto Skyler so tight
that Skyler was having trouble breathing.
"Georgia....I can't....breathe." Georgia loosened her grip but didn't let go
completely for fear of waking up and finding out it was all a dream.
Skyler reached up and wiped the tears from her friends face. "Can you ever
forgive me for being so stupid and stubborn? I should've known from the
beginning that you were only trying to protect me and that you had made a
promise
and I know you don't go back on your word."
"Ms. Skyler, you ain't got nuttin' to ask forgiveness for. It's I should be
askin' you for that forgiveness. Lord knows I shoulda dun sumthin 'bout all
this mess long time ago. I shoulda told you 'bout your sister. I shouldna kept
sumthin like that from you. I's the one to blame for all thats happened."
Skyler looked at Georgia and could see the pain in her eyes. "Georgia nobody
is to blame for anything. You were doing what you thought was best for me,
just as you always have. Melanie....or Sunni and I have talked and are going
to start to build a relationship and try and get to know each other and you
are a part of our family. You always have been and you always will be.
Besides
who is going to keep me in line if you don't?" Skyler smiled at the woman
who smiled back for the first time in a very long time.
"The past is the past and now the three of us can start anew as a family.
That is if you still want me in your life?"
Georgia looked at Skyler and gave her a stern look. "Now dun't you go sayin'
things like that. Like you said the past is the past. 'sides I would have no
life if you werent in it. Now lets have us some homemade leomenade and some
Pecan Pie. Nun of that replicated stuff, I has a real one I's just baked. I
can't thin' of a better time to eat it can you?"
Skyler laughed which in turn made Georgia laugh. "No ma'am I can't. I have
been missing your pecan pies something awful."
The two sat at the table eating their Pecan pie and catching up on old
times. Hopefully things were on the mend.
