<USS Avalon> "Flashback's" Cmdr.Skyler

"Flashback's"
Cmdr. Skyler

Sitting in the center chair of the battle bridge, Skyler could feel the
memories come crashing over her like a tidal wave. The last time she had been
in
that seat was on the Avalon's mission into the Guardian of Forever wormhole's
or gate opening's. They had found one. That is when all hell broke lose, at
least for her.

One minute she was talking to Phillipa and the next they were both bound and
beaten. Standing over them was a petite woman, claiming to be a Lt. from a
ship called the UCP Tempest. She was telling a story that couldn't possibly be
true, yet it was. Sitting on the floor, bound and beaten, Skyler was the
proof. The Avalon had been boarded.

According to Lt. Cate, as she was calling herself, she and her crew had been
sent down to destroy the Avalon. In her time the Avalon didn't exist. Her
time was the future. The Avalon was not supposed to exist in the future, they
were all supposed to be dead. What happened?

During the course of that mission there had been many changes in captor and
captive, ranging from enemies, to tolerant equals, to something almost like
friendship. She heard the tale of a person who felt they belonged to the
military, whose life was the military. Skyler offered her a chance at a new
beginning if only she would assist in getting the Avalon back to it's own time
period. She knew this all occurred. She remembered it all. Almost to the last
detail.

Once back in their own time, the Avalon had a new crew member and Skyler was
undergoing mind wipes. Mind wipes that didn't work. She still remembered.
The feelings of helplessness, of trying to save herself and those she was
serving with. Now they were all rushing back, because of this new mission.

Time travel, Temporal Police, futuristic weapons. It was all a bad dream,
yet it wasn't. It was real. The Avalon again was going to mess with the future.

This time their was more at stake. There were new families, children on the
way, new friends, lost families reunited. There was too much at stake...too
much.

Skyler got out of the chair, walked over to the replicator to get a glass of
cold water. Looking at the glass, she thought to herself, "I've done this
before, in the future. Gotten water for a captive." She tried to shake off the
feelings of....hell she didn't even know what to call them. Her forehead was
a sheen of sweat as her nerves became more on edge.

This time was different or was it? They were going to risk a one man shuttle
and hope that they could retrieve this person before the hole to the future
closed around him. There had to be another way. A way to complete the mission
without risking lives needlessly. She just didn't know what it was.

She returned to her chair and waited. Waited for the future or for the past.
Neither one would be the same again.
