<USS Avalon> "Failed Attempts"

"Failed Attempts"
Cmdr Skyler & Commander Aeriannah Kaelyre

Finally reaching the shuttle bay, Skyler found one she could easily access.
Climbing aboard she played around with the console until the view screen came
on. What she saw was the badlands as well as a ship she had never seen
before.
It took her breath away but it would not deter her from her primary goal,
which was to find the Captain. She opened the comm system and sent a signal to
the other ship. "This is Cmdr Skyler of the USS Avalon calling unknown ship.
Please respond?" All she could do now was wait and see what happened.
"Weâre being hailed." Reported the young office at Opts.
"By who?" Grace asked as she turned to look at her officer.
The young man looked down and then played the audio, causing Grace to
flinch. Standing she looked down at her first office. "This oneâs all yours,
Commander."
Aeriannah smirked. "Gee thanks." She waited until the Captain was out of
sight safely behind her closed ready room doors.
"On screen." She called out as she took the center seat. "Good Evening,
Commander Skyler. This is Commander Kaelyre, what can we do for you?"
"I would like to know where Captain Ketchum is and Lt. Josh Garrity. If they
are aboard your ship I want them returned immediately."
"The last time I was updated, Commander, your Captain was with you."
Aeriannah replied. "As for Lt. Garrity, he's hear."
"You have Lt. Garrity aboard your ship? Please return him as soon as
possible, also the Captain is not aboard this ship. Do you know anything about
this?"
"We're not holding him against his will, though we are awaiting word from
your Captain on a few matters before we return him. No, we don't know anything
about your captain's whereabouts, and as for mine she's unable to speak with
you."
Skyler didn't know what to make of this woman. "I would think that if you
knew we were under attack and you had Lt. Garrity aboard your vessel, that
your
Captain would want to speak to anyone she could. Also, if Captain Ketchum is
not aboard this ship, as I have already told you, why would you be awaiting
word from him. According to our computer's he is not on this ship. I must
insist on speaking to your captain. No offense to you Commander."
Aeriannah fought the need to sigh. "Our Captains have already spoken,
Commander, there's no need for you to speak with her well. They both feel that
as
little interaction between our crews really is the best thing for everyone."
Trying to remain calm Skyler looked at the woman on the view screen. "I am
glad that you are under the impression that our Captains have spoken, because
to the best of my knowledge that is not the case. I would've been informed of
this. Do you always speak for your Captain or is she unable to speak for
herself? How many times do I have to repeat myself. Captain Ketchum is not on
this ship. If you know something, or your Captain knows something, I demand
that I be allowed to speak to her."
"As I've said before," Aeriannah said softly. "she is unable to speak with
you."
Turning off the audio, Skyler turned around in her chair. She had to figure
a way to get to the Captain. Either Captain. She leaned back and thought
maybe, just maybe... She closed her eyes and opened her mind hoping she would
be
able to sense something, anything.
Aeriannah nearly laughed. She and Grace both knew better then to leave their
minds open.
Turning the audio on but not turning around Skyler spoke, "Commander, I find
it rather strange that you seem to know more about what is going on within
my own ship then I do. As I am sure you can see I am in a shuttle calling you
because someone or something has shut down the view screens on the bridge and
battle bridge. I am nothing if not determined to find out what the hell is
going on. I have family on this ship and will stop at nothing to protect them.

Now again I am requesting to speak to your Captain." Skyler closed her mind,
Mel was not responding, nor could she sense Keith.
"Then I'd advise you to seek counsel with your Captain, Commander."
Aeriannah replied.
"Damnit, If I knew where he was I would seek him out. Do you think I am some
kind of fool?"
"Of course not Commander." Aeriannah replied.
Skyler was getting very frustrated both with this person and with the entire
screwed up situation. Damn Keith and his little secrets. Damn the temporal
crap. Damn them all, she just wanted to make sure Soliel was okay. "If you are
not going to let me speak to your Captain then we have nothing further to
talk about. Thank you for nothing Commander."
"Your welcome." Aeriannah replied with a smile that made her look more like
her Mama then her Asarah which was rare.
Skyler turned the audio and visual off. Now what was she going to do?
According to "them" Keith was on the ship. According to the computer he
wasn't.
Someone or something was lying. All she could do was try and figure something
else out, while checking on her sister.
Grace came back out of her ready room laughing.
"I'm so glad you thought that was funny." Aeriannah replied as she returned
the center seat.
Grace just shook her head. "Thanks for taking that one for me, Annie."
Aeriannah laughed. "Ya know I think she was even worse then, err now, err..
When can we go home?"
"Soon," Grace replied. "I hope."
