<USS Avalon> Engineers by Patrick McEntire & Li Vilya

Vilya was loathe to leave her baby so soon but a job to do was a job to do
now that she was able to. Zachan, for so it seemed the nickname had stuck
already, was perfectly safe and sound with his father and grandfather but she
still hated leaving him.
She bit her lip as she ran down to Engineering. Even as she ran, she
caught sight of the damage to the ship. Prophets...and this was from only
twenty?
I wonder if this was from us or from them? She skidded into Main
Engineering, her warm brown eyes darting about, searching, hoping Anna had
gotten it
wrong. She didn't see him anywhere yet there were repair teams running out
of the door already. If he wasn't there and she, herself had been in Sick
Bay, then...who? Finally, she spotted a familiar blond.
"Mac!" she cried as she ran over and practically grabbed his uniform front.
"Mac, tell me the truth. Tell me Anna's wrong and that Josh is already
back with that shuttle."

Mac looked at her, weighing his answer carefully, though the pain of their
loss was evident in his hazel eyes. At long last, he shook his head slightly
and answered, "...he can't be gone...we'll find him..."

"What do you mean gone?!" she asked. "He can't be gone! He has to hold
his godson at his blessing. He has to be there for yours too."

Mac nodded shortly to her before calling out to another engineer, "I need a
report on those sensors...are we getting anything yet?"

Vilya bit her lip. Crying was not going to do a damned thing to help.
"Alright, Mac. Where do you need me? I've been lying around doing nothing so
I
have no idea what's going on."

His expression one of near desolation, he shrugged slightly. "Got any ideas
for sensor or scanner upgrades, now's the time to try them...."

"Not a clue," Vilya muttered but she headed for a console anyway. "If
repairs are well in hand, then I'll get right to it."
