       K'etrall was back working in Engineering after recovering from her 
injuries. She was going to have to work extra hard now that the Chief was gone. 
Hopefully, they would find a replacement soon. Especially since the warp core 
was about to be jettisoned and leave the Avalon stranded in the middle of an 
unstable rift. Why did Dodge have to be so quick to jettison the warp core 
instead of attempting to stabilize it? That was something that K'etrall would 
never 
know. 

       She was concentrating so hard that she didn't hear the doors to 
engineering open or hear the voice calling out for whoever was available.

       "This is Commander Skyler, is anyone here? If so please come forward."

       K'etrall finally heard the Commander and moved over to where she was 
standing. Not looking exactly like a happy person. K'etrall stood at attention 
until such time as the commander put her at ease.

       "At ease Lt. What in the hell is going on with the engines? We are 
losing power through out the ship. If it keeps up at the rate it's going there 
won't be any power left and we will end up adrift in the rift. We will also be 
unable to contact anyone to come and help us."

       K'etrall looked nervously at the Commander.  

       "Well, Ma'am I don't have an answer right now for you. I was just 
released from sickbay and just found out what was going on. I was shocked to 
see 
that Chief Thomas had moved on, leaving us in this condition. I do have one 
suggestion that might help us."

       "What might that be Lt?"

       "Well, Ensign Bailey, who is currently working in security has had 
lots of experience working in engineering and engineering mechanics. I think he 
would make a great engineer if asked to change positions. I think he should be 
offered the postion of head engineer. Of course that is my opinion ma'am."

       "Perhaps you are correct Lt. I will discuss it the Captain. In the 
meantime, I want you to keep doing the best you can. Understood?"

       "Understood."
