"Doctor to Doctor"
DR's Mahler and Cazook
Alexis had been sitting in her office for some time trying to decide exactly
what she should do. She was aware of the fact that Dr. Mahler was the Chief
Medical Officer, however he was also a man. Talea was not going to trust him
at all. She was lucky that Talea trusted her as she did. Still, Dr. Mahler
needed to be informed of what was going on with Talea and why her condition
was
the way it was.
Taking a deep breath she stood up, straightened her uniform and walked over
to the CMO's office. Knocking on the door she waited for a reply before
entering. Waiting gave her a chance to try and figure out how she was going to
explain all that had happened so far.
"Enter," he called out, looking up from his PADD and setting down his cup of
mint tea. He'd been fighting a headache as of late and preferred this to
simply taking aspirin or Tylenol. Nature had such wonderful remedies.
"Dr. Cazook," he said, gesturing towards a chair. "Do have a seat. Is there
something I can do for you?" I hope it's something that'll take my mind of
this blasted pain, he thought. He waited until she was seated and gave her his
full attention.
Taking her seat Alexis looked at her superior. "Doctor Mahler it seems as
though you are in some kind of pain. Is there anything I can do for you?" She
waited for a response and not getting one she decided to continue with why she
was there.
"The reason I have come is I thought I should update you on the current
situation with Ensign Erridim. She is one of the new crew that joined us and
is
Rigellian. There are some issues you need to be aware of and I need to explain
why she has come to me for care recently and not to you. I don't want you to
think that I am trying to subvert your position."
He nodded. "Very well then. If you would be so kind as to brief me on these
issues?" This ought to be interesting, he thought. I wonder what she means?
"First off here are her medical files, both physical and psychological. She
is currently recovering from being in a prolonged period of stasis which has
apparently caused her to lose her psionic powers. That is one thing in
itself. When she does recover those powers if she is not sufficiently shielded
she
will be bombarded with what I can only call a tidal wave of emotions and
feelings that could cause her great harm. From what I understand Captain
Skyler
and Lt. K'etrall have offered to help shield her and along with Sergeant
Walker, who is also Rigellian, it is my hope that she will be adequately
shielded.
We are unsure when these powers will return so we are attempting to take
every precaution."
Pausing a moment to gather her thoughts and to allow this information to
sink in Alexis sat quietly. After a few moments she continued. "Recently,
Ensign
Erridim was physically assaulted in her quarter's by an Ensign Jackson who
first saw her when she came out of stasis pod, immediately calling her the
"Ice Princess." He is currently in the brig awaiting punishment. Another
aspect
of Ensign Erridim's problems is her deep seated fear of men. Which is why I
have been taking care of her. It seems back on her homeworld she was treated
as a lower class citizen and used and abused by any man who wanted. It is
going to take a great while for her to over come this fear. That is something
to
which I am also working on."
"Rigellian? Well, this will constitute an entirely new case. I've never
worked with them in person." He began looking over the datapadds. "Yes, I can
see
what you mean, Dr. Cazook. I imagine this has something to do with why she's
either with her own kind ... or around females." He nodded. "Talea Erridim.
Apparently almost a misandrist. 'Ice Princess.' Yes, that remark was out of
line." He looked up. "I think I will have to pay this Ensign Jackson a visit
as well." He paused. "Thank you Dr. Cazook, this has been most informative.
Please keep me posted regarding our Rigellian newcomer. I think I have my work
cut out for me here."
He rose. "If there is nothing else to add, Dr. Cazook, you are dismissed and
I thank you. I think I have an appointment to keep in the brig."
Taken aback at the sudden dismissal Alexis stood and left Dr. Mahler's
office. She wasn't sure how to take this man. Not at all. However he was the
CMO
and she merely an assistant. Why he was going to the brig she didn't know. But
again...he was the boss. She returned to her office to finish up some
paperwork before retiring for the night.
