Divulgence
...the mystery grows
She was tired now, her days filled with stress and activities that she felt
were completely useless. It was becoming increasingly difficult to send
information to her employers.
Her employers were growing fickle.
Her position was growing dangerous.
But she thrived upon danger, derived a sick pleasure from it's presence.
With her official Starfleet business complete, she left engineering and
proceeded to her quarters with out delay. A more profitable venture awaited
her, far more so than plasma conduit maintenance and definitely more profitable.
She deftly sealed her quarters, shutting off sensor activity.
Computer, activate program Cocytus.
Cocytus appeared.
"You've done well for yourself."
"Your praise is not necessary and it is not wanted." She sneered at the
holographic creature. "Your silence and cooperation, however, are."
"The channel is open."
"Good."
A vile voice filled her quarters.
"Why have you not finished transmissions? I need that data. It is time
sensitive. Even a useless whore like yourself should be able to tell that."
"You should watch your tongue. You wouldn't want to choke on it, now would you?"
"You should watch yours. You still want to get paid."
"Vengeance can wait."
"You still want to remain anonymous. I could inform certain people about
you...shall we say extracurricular activities?"
"You would be exposed as well."
"Then, as you say, vengeance can wait."
She popped her knuckles, glaring at the black screen. "Standby for your
transmission."
"Standing by."

The doors to Dodge's quarters slid aside, admitting him.
"Who? Who? Who? Who? Who? Who?"
"Ed? Is that you? You're talking!"
"Who?"
"It's me, Dodge!"
"D-D-D-D-D-Dodge." The cat stammered.
"Yes!"
"Don't take them! Don't take them!"
"What?"
"I NEED THEM!"
"What's this you're going on about?"
"Dodge?" The voice of Carson Fuller echoed into his quarters.
"Carson? Yea, it's me."
"What's wrong. I hear someone shouting."
"No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no."
"It's just my cat, Ed."
"You're cat? He can talk?"
"He's a hologram."
Carson peeked into the room. "Not a very good one."
"He's...decompiling. I can't figure it out."
"She's! No! Taken them! No! She's! He's! No!"
"What's he going on about?"
"I don't know. But what ever it is, it's an improvement from yesterday. At
least he's making a discernable attempt at conversation."
"No! She's! No! I need those isolinear chips you bitch!"
"Was that a full sentence?"
"Sounded like it." Dodge paused. "Perhaps...no."
"It looks like you've got a lot on your hands, Dodge. I'll leave you two alone."
"Sorry Carson. He's not usually like this...at least, he's not supposed to be."
"It's all right, Dodge. Listen, we've been assigned separate quarters just down
the hall. Give us a call if you need anything."
"Say hi to Lindsay."
"I will. Good luck with your cat."
"Thanks."
"No! She's taken Iso Chips Graf Drg
klzzmskand...d...s....z.......s.......pfht." Ed's voice fizzled to nothing.
Dodge stared at the now still cat. "Ed...You really need to get better.
I...I...I don't want to take you offline. I can't. Please--"
Ed let out a sharp breath then screamed. "S-H-E C-O-M-E-S!!"
Then he vanished.
"Damn it all."
