<USS Avalon> Deep Space Nine

Deep Space Nine
by Anthony Manson

The Avalon dropped out of warp just at the edge of the Bajoran system. Her
engines hummed lightly as she slowed to impulse speed. It wouldn't too long, a
few minutes at most and Avalon would be at their destination.

"Status," Anthony said to no one in particular. Realising that, he found
himself being stared at by a few officers, all of which confused as to who he
was addressing to. Alder grinned from the CONN station and turned back to his
console.

"We'll be at DS9 in two minutes," Alder spoke up, "they've cleared us to
docking port four."

Anthony nodded, a little relieved. The last thing he wanted were those same
eyes starring at him. They went about the duties and Anthony cleared his throat
as he looked at his own console. He immediately requested for one of DS9's
engineering teams look over the ship. Requisitioned a small amount of parts
they couldn't normally replicate themselves, and transferred a list of people
requesting duty on board the Avalon to Captain Ketchum. The rest of Anthony's
affairs were in order.

So he looked up, feeling as though he'd done whatever was necessary to prepare
the ship for docking and looked at the veiwscreen. The Cardassian built space
station was now in full view. It looked like an upside down spider the more he
looked at it. Anthony had never visited Deep Space Nine, and Alder made a claim
to some Bajoran treats he found when he was there. They'd be strolling about
the promenade soon enough.

There was a bleep on this console, the stationed informed him that the
Arrowhead was too be at the Bajoran system soon. Anthony cracked a smile at the
corners of his mouth, realising he'd get to tell Marksbury the latest about
his, and Alder's, new posts.

Another bleep sounded, the Omen was still under repairs, and wouldn't be done
for at least a week. While the Avalon was now automatically being piloted to
dock, the viewscreen showed the Nebula class starship and her port nacelle
dimmed out. The ship, as far as he was told, would be headed into the Beta
Quadrant for an exploratory mission. Anthony felt slightly excited about it,
but at the same time, felt a stingy sensation inside.

"We've docked," Alder said as he powered down the engines.

Anthony nodded and tapped his combadge, "Captain Ketchum, we've docked. Im
releasing the crew for shoreleave."
