"Changes..Part 2"
Cmdr. Skyler and Georgia Lewis

Georgia and Skyler walked in silence. Even without looking Skyler could tell 
something was bothering her friend and she had a pretty good idea what it was. 
Those stupid drunks had made fun of her and now she was upset about it.

Skyler put her arm around Georgia and tried to reassure her. "Georgia, you 
musn't let what those fools said bother you. You are not stupid or anything of 
that nature at all. Look at all you have accomplished."

Georgia just continued to walk in silence until they came across a quiet 
resturant. Walking in they found the quietest table they could away from 
everyone else.

"Georgia, talk to me. Please?" Skyler was really starting to worry about her 
friend.

Looking at Skyler, Georgia wasn't sure what to say or do. She had so many 
toughts racing through her head that she didn't know how or where to begin. 

"Skyler, Is been thinking about a few things and Is knows you aren't going to 
like them. What those men said about me was true. I is an embarassement to 
Starfleet and to the Avalon and most 'specially to you and Miss Melanie."

Skyler tried to interupt her but she raised her hand to stop her.

"Let me finish. I been thinking 'bout this for sometime now. I thinks I want to 
return to the academy and work on becoming a doctor. Don't get me wrong, ain't 
nothing wrong with being a nurse. I think I has done a good job all these 
years, but Is think that maybe its time to move on to better things. There is 
nothing wrong with trying to improve oneself now is dere?"

Seeing the determination in Georgia's eyes, Skyler couldn't help but agree. 
"Are you sure this is what you want to do? You know I have no problems with the 
way you are and I never have. I just want you to be happy."

"This is whats I has to do Miss Skyler. I'm sorry Commander. I need to improve 
myself so that I am no longer an embrassement to you or anyone else. I have 
already submitted my resignation to Captain Ketchum and have requested a 
transfer back to Starfleet medical. Is just waiting to hear back from the 
Captain. I hope I will always be welcome on this ship?"

"You know you are and always will be. I know that I can't talk you out of this 
so I am not going to even try. I only ask that every once and a while you send 
me a letter keeping me up todate on how things are going. Also if you ever need 
any help then feel free to call or write."

Skyler leaned over and with a lone tear in her eye hugged her oldest and 
dearest friend. Things were not going to be the same around the Avalon without 
her around.

Georgia looked up at Skyler and replied, "You'll do just fine. Yous has always 
landed on your feet. Now lets go see what be happening with that baby of your 
sisters."
