<USS Avalon> "Changes: Part 1"

"Changes: Part 1"
Cmdr. Skyler 
 
Once the bay doors had pressurized Skyler waited until everyone was off the  
Arthur. Now that it was empty she sat back down at helm in silent 
contemplation.  The Avalon she knew was no longer. Things were on the verge of 
change. 
People  were having children, her sister included. Not only was she going to 
become a  mother she was going to be the new second officer. Skyler couldn't be 
more proud  of her than she was at that moment. She hadn't heard from her since 
the  evacuation, she hoped everything was okay. Taking one last look around, 
she  stood up and exited the runabout and made her way through the airlock, 
onto the  station and the beginning of a new episode in her life and the life 
of 
the  Avalon.
 
AS she entered the station she saw Georgia standing there waiting. "Georgia  
why are you standing there? You are on shore leave, you should be out enjoying 
 yourself." Skyler knew why she was waiting for her.
 
"Is will take my leave when I is good an ready. I knows that yous is  worried 
about your sister. 'sides I want to know whats a goin on myself. It's  not 
every day I become a granny ya know!
 
Skyler wasn't about to argue with her friend. Even if she did she would  
lose. That woman could out talk the best of them. So as they walked and talked, 
 
not paying attention to other people on the station, Skyler got the sense that  
they were being watched, if not even followed. Without any warning she 
suddenly  turned around and confronted those that were following them. It 
turned out 
to be  a couple of drunk ensigns.
 
"You two got a problem I should know about?" she sternly commented.
 
They both looked at Skyler and back at Georgia and started laughing. "Where  
did you pick her up? Nobody talks that way. How can you understand her?"
 
Skyler took a quick look at Georgia who had tears in her eyes. Skyler knew  
that at some point this day would come, she just didn't expect it out of a  
couple of Starfleet officers. She got in their faces and commented without  
hesitation, "I can understand her just fine and if you don't want to end up in  
the 
brig for insulting an officer I suggest you start walking the other  
way....NOW!!!!"
 
The two drunks looked at Skyler and decided it would be best if they  
followed her orders, so without further comment they turned and walked  away.
