"Changes"
By Lieutenant Elissabeth Marksbury and Junior Lieutenant James Monroe
Lissi was right at the end of her list of questions from the Rydyns. She had
composed what she believed were plausible enough replicas of answers. She
stood and stretched, having sat for too long. Her chime rang again.
"Enter" she said, turning toward the door.
The doors wisped open as she looked up to see Monroe step in. He smiled at her
and slowly closed in the distance between them without either of them speaking.
He noticed some PADDs on the table, "Hope I wasn't interrupting anything." By
now he was only an arms reach away from Lissi.
Lissi was entranced by his presence. She swallowed thickly again, unsure as to
why he had such an effect on her. "Just - finished, actually."
"Good," he whispered, his voice seemingly effected by hers. He closed the
distance between them in one stride. He cupped her chin in his hand and tipped
her head up to plant a rather tender kiss on her lips. Or at least that was
his intent. It turned out to be a bit more lustful than he had planned,
leaving both of them breathless.
"I'm - sorry," he told her. "I've just been thinking about that all day."
Lissi blushed and admitted, "Me too."
"Well, now that we got that out of the way, how was your day?" he asked.
"Busy. And yours?" Her eyes never left his mouth.
"Just...fine..." It was obvious that neither of them cared much for
conversation. It seemed by mutual consent that they melted into each other's
arms, lips and tongues performing an intricate dance.
Ever so slowly, they backed to the sofa, giving into their innermost desires.
"This...is...going...too fast," Lissi breathed between kisses.
"I agree," he said, kissing her again.
Lissi couldn't believe the changes coming over her. She felt so out of control
and her body felt as though it were on fire. And she loved it.
Monroe kept telling himself to back off, to take his time with her. But it
seemed as though neither of them could help it. Be a man, he admonished
himself and broke his embrace with Lissi.
They both sat back, breathing heavily for a moment, neither knowing what to say.
It was James who finally broke the silence. "I'm so sorry, Lissi. I didn't
mean to be this...aggressive. I wanted to take things slowly. I just don't
know what comes over me where you're involved."
"I'm not angry, James. Believe me, I wish I knew what came over me as well.
I've never been this out of control in my life. And the worst part of it is
that I like it." She was staring at her lap.
"Oh, me too." They laughed.
"I think," he began, "that we need to decide if this is where we want this
relationship to go. Obviously we are going to have problems keeping our hands
off each other, so if we want to get to know each other better first - I think
we need to keep our dates in public places."
"I think you're right." It was still taking her a while to come down off that
high. "But we don't have to decide right now, do we?" she asked impishly.
"Lissi!" This was certainly a side of her he had never seen, but he kinda
liked it. He was leaning in to kiss her again, when her alarm started beeping.
"Damnit. I've gotta go. I have a meeting with one of the Rydyn delegates,"
Lissi said jumping to her feet and straightening her uniform.
James groaned.
"Sorry. I gotta kick you out," she said, grabbing his hand to pull him off her
couch. She tiptoed to give him a sweet kiss.
"You're gonna be the death of me, woman," he smiled.
"It'll be a fun way to go." Lissi winked at him and gently pushed him out the
door. She gave him another quick kiss. "Let me know what you decide."
The door swished shut and Monroe stood there willing himself to calm down so
that he could walk down the corridor without embarrassment.
Lissi looked in the mirror and combed her hair back into place. Her cheeks
were nicely flushed. "What has come over you?" she asked herself in the
mirror. Then she giggled, not really caring.
