<USS Avalon> "Caught Red-Handed" By Sr. Lt. Manson and Lt. Marksbury

"Caught Red-Handed"
By: Senior Lieutenant Anthony Manson and Lieutenant First Class Elissabeth
Marksbury

Anthony leaned against the walls of the turbo-lift. He was not going to like
today, or the next few days for that matter. Until he got the shifts redone,
they would be seeing more of each other than Alder wanted. Anthony didn't mind,
of course, but it was as if Alder acted like there was nothing between them. It
hurt.

Entering the bridge, he found a Rydyn exploring it. Anthony snapped in attitude
more than he did with tact, "What the hell are you doing on the bridge?"

"Finding some answers," the Rydyn replied, nearly ignoring Anthony while he was
pressing buttons on one of the consoles.

"Remove your hands from the console now. I won't repeat myself," Anthony looked
at the Rydyn but didn't forcibly take his arm. Had he done that, Anthony knew
he'd be in some sort of violation of diplomatic hospitality- no matter how
compromised it was right now.

The Rydyn completely ignored him. Anthony blew out frustration that bordered on
anger and tapped on his com-badge, "Mason to Marksbury."

Her com-badge beeping woke Lissi from troubled sleep. She was awake in an
instant and quickly and rolled out of bed, grabbing her badge from the
nightstand. "Marksbury here."

"I need you on the bridge. Now," Anthony clicked off, and looked at the Rydyn
who had not stopped tampering with the console. Anthony grabbed his arm and
pulled him back from the computer. "I've already said, I won't repeat myself.
Stay here, or stay in the brig, your choice."

Hearing the urgency in Manson's voice, Lissi dressed and was out the door in
less than two minutes. She ran her fingers through her hair in the turbo-lift,
willing it to go faster. The doors opened and she stepped out to find Lt.
Manson gripping one of the Rydyn delegates by the arm. "What is going on
here?" she asked, pretty sure she already knew.

"You're in charge of making sure they don't pass deck two, Lieutenant. See that
he doesn't. I found him tampering with the console, and frankly, I don't need
problems on the bridge," Anthony released his arm. "If I see him again without
a request from the captain or the commanders, I want him in the brig."

"He's already going to the brig," she told Manson. Then turning to the Rydyn,
Marksbury said, "Sir, you're going to have to come with me. I suggest you go
quietly." Her voice was calm but threatening. The Rydyn looked at her
defiantly, but her measured gaze let him know that she was serious. He
narrowed his eyes and protested "I want to see Ambassador Oonal".

"Right after we make a nice trip to security," she told him, escorting him off
the bridge.
"I'll be back to complete the security report," she told Lt. Manson before they
stepped into the turbo-lift.

Lissi was seething. She thought that things with the delegates had calmed down
a bit. This was outrageous. She had released one delegate already, as had
Commander Sierra, according to the reports. Perhaps they hadn't learned their
lesson. By golly, this one could stay in the brig until the ship reached Earth.

They reached the security offices and Marksbury locked him in the brig,
beginning the "paper"work. She let the Ensign on duty know that under no
uncertain terms was the Rydyn to be released without her permission, no matter
how much anyone threatened.

After taking down his name and listening to him rant and rave about not seeing
Ambassadors Creval or Oonal, Lissi quit talking to the delegate. This had gone
far enough. She was tired of making concessions for these people. She made
her way back to the bridge after settling things the best she could in security.

Anthony looked at the console the delegate had attempted to access information
from. He was trying to get security reports, the latest ship reports and even
internal sensor reports. Each pathway was restricted unless he had the
clearance. Normally an Ensign could have accessed such information, but
delegates were not privy to that fact. He shook his head, and closed the
pathways. He hadn't seen Marksbury yet, so he went back to his station hoping
that the day wasn't going to be as bad as it started off.

Marksbury stepped off the lift and looked for Manson. She approached him, her
temper in check and hoping his was as well. She wasn't in the mood to be
yelled at tonight, not that he didn't have a right to be angry. She was angry
enough at herself. "Lt?"

Anthony looked at her, but he had long since calmed down. He didn't like being
lost in his emotions, but it had been a strain for a while. His voice evened
out and neutral, he asked, "So, how did he get past deck two? I was assured in
the reports that they had no access and that security would be alerted if such
an event happened."

"I don't know, sir. I have guards stationed all around deck two, including the
jeffries tubes because we thought that was how another escaped. The Rydyns are
becoming increasingly desperate for information and they are very resourceful.
I will investigate the breach myself and bring a report to you in person if you
desire, Lt." She waited, gaging his reaction to her words.

"Do so. By tomorrow I will be visiting the delegates. Have them at conference
room three at oh-nine-hundred hours."

"Will do, sir. I do, however, need your statement to complete my report," she
told him handing over the PADD.

He took the PADD, setting the device on record, "Upon arriving on the bridge
for a night shift, I saw a Rydyn Delegate attempting to retrieve data from
internal sensors, security logs, and the latest ship reports. After my verbal
warning, I had to forcibly remove him in order to stop his attempts. I then
contacted Lieutenant Marksbury to handle the situation."

"Thank you, Lt. I very much apologize for this and will have my report for you
by oh-eight-forty-five when I speak to you before your requested conference.
Have a good night, sir."
