<USS Avalon> Captain of Marines

***takes place on the Banshee-C

Thirty-two years in the Starfleet Marine Corps and dealing with anything
remotely temporal still gave Captain Andy Maluhia a headache. The Captain
could
pick whatever Fleeters she wanted to board the embodiment of his headache
and he would deal with his Marines. The big man paused to look out a view
port
on his way back to the Marine deck and shook his head.

"It isn't nice to give Marines a headache, lady," he said dryly, addressing
the Avalon.

Some Marines commanded by volume and intimidation. Certainly, Andy was big
enough to intimidate but he usually didn't need to with his troops. He was
known for his easy going good nature and his loyalty to his Marines. If they
respected him, he returned the respect and backed them to the hilt. By the
time he made it back to the Marine assembly room, his first lieutenant had the
company assembled.

"Listen up, Marines. Details are sketchy right now but it looks like we're
going to back up Fleet Security on another ship which as been boarded by
those Maquis. We either are going to repel or contain. That's all I have
right
now but, A and C squads, consider yourselves primary alert. B and D, you're
secondary," he said, his dark eyes moving about the room, catching eyes of
individuals as he could. "I expect nothing less than our best, Marines.
Semper Fi."

A grin touched his face at the chorused reply. "Semper Fi, Captain."

Clapping his hand on his lieutenant's shoulder, Andy said, "I have to go see
the Z-Man in Science a minute, Lieu. You know the drill. I'll be back."

"You got it, Cap--we'll be ready when you are," the lieutenant replied with
an easy salute.

The chief Science officer heard the singing long before the voice's owner
arrived at the lab. We the warriors born to live On what the land and sea can
give ...A big smiling Marine leaned into the doorway and waved at him.

"Hau'oli La Hanau, Z Man," Andy said brightly.

"Heh, thanks, Andy." He tilted a chin toward the smiling Marine, the
movement shaking his earring. "What's going on, ka mâka`i," he asked using
the
term Andy had taught him. "Thanks for the wishes and all but I can't believe
you came all the way here just for that."

"Yeah, well, I have to go back topside and back to my guys but...Zachan,
it's the Avalon-B." Andy watched he auburn haired man's blue eyes widen.
"Yeah--that one, so you and the others aren't allowed anywhere near but I
thought
you'd want t'look, Z-Man."

"I should think so, Andy," the auburn haired man said as he ducked under
Andy's arm to leave. "Thanks."
