Calling on the 2nd Officer
-- joint log by
Cmdr. Sierra and Dr. Roan
Felicity walked down the corridor, having just left Commander
Skyler's quarters, her physical completed. Now for the additional
daunting task of Mr. Sierra's physical. She tapped the comm, "Mr.
Sierra this is Dr. Roan. I've been ordered by the Captain to conduct
a physical. Would you have time now for this to be completed?"
Felicity thought to herself that it would be daunting because Mr.
Sierra always is so stand-offish around her, she couldn't be certain
why.
Javan opened his eyes and listened, he thought that he'd just been
called, but given his state of meditation he'd neglected to focus on
it. His eyes roamed the room and his mind traveled back to the few
seconds before he was woke. "Doctor Roan, I'm on my way." He stood
and collected his uniform, which had long been discarded on the
floor, and put it back on. After stepping out into the overly lit
hallway he began his trek to sickbay - with the armed security
contingent on his heels.
"I could come to you, it might be easier, given that I am en route
to your quarters already. I expect this to take just a few moments."
He halted and backtracked to his quarters, "Fair enough, Doctor,
I'll await your arrival."
Felicity arrived within just a few moments to Javan's quarters
and after speaking with the Security guards on duty, rang the chime
and then waited patiently.
"Enter." Javan sat on his couch and picked up a PADD and started
typing - he was going to institute a whole new set of security
procedures to be more efficient. Efficient. He sounded like a Borg.
"Thank you for seeing me on such short notice Mr. Sierra, but you
know Captain's orders are Captain's orders. I hope that you are
managing well, all things considered?" She tried to seem
nonjudgmental or insincere. Felicity didn't have an agenda either
way where the Commanders were concerned.
"Never been better, actually, Lieutenant. How've you been? I
haven't had a chance to get down to sickbay recently and I figured
I'd pop in and say hello to Johnny and Georgia." Javan folded his
arms as he managed to force a smirk across his face.
She detected that he was a bit annoyed by her visit and decided just
to proceed and be done with this. She still had Command classes
waiting on her.
"I've been fine thank you. Medical hasn't been very busy, but we've
a new Doctor, Mr. Idrys, perhaps you've met him? The rest of the
staff are fine, I will send your regards."
She produced the Medical tricorder, "Well, let's begin shall we? Any
medical conditions or problems to discuss?"
Javan just shook his head as he stood.
She smiled and scanned him for anomalies, "Have you been able to
workout during your off-duty time? You appear to have maintained
your previous weight.
"Meditation does a body good, Doctor, but yes I have been able
to continue with my physical training. My job doesn't allow for
anything less than total fitness." And that was true, if you weren't
able to hold your own the Section would make sure that you stopped
existing.
Again, Felicity smiled and nodded simply, not wanting to pry more,
"Well you appear to be in good health. I understand that the
Counselor has been by for a mental assessment, so the Captain should
have all the information he needs regarding your condition. Any
questions for me before I leave?"
"No, Doctor, thank you for making the house call." Javan nodded,
somewhat absently.
Felicity nodded simply and put the Tricorder back in her side pocket,
"It wasn't a problem. I was out and about in any case. Have a nice
afternoon, what's left of it, Mr. Sierra."
With that, Felicity left his quarters, somewhat troubled, not by what
he had said, but more by what wasn't said. She wasn't the counselor
and it wasn't her place to make these kinds of observations, but
something seemed unusual. Perhaps he was more upset by his sudden
removal than he let on. She shrugged and headed back to Medical to
prepare the brief for both Commanders, without a commentary.
He watched as she left. His mind wandered to the reason why he was
on Avalon. The classes, the secret meetings, the nonstop supply of
subtle information on every member of the crew, and all the prospects
that had already been chosen. She had been on this list. She was
one that fit the criteria. She was the one who had the finesse. She
could do, Javan thought, she could do just fine.
