Back to  Work

Returning to the bridge,  after pulling herself together, Skyler found that 
Keith was no where to be  found. Phillipa was in charge. She knew something was 
going on with Phillipa but  didn't know the details. Whatever it was, it 
didn't appear to be interfering  with her work.
 
"Lieutenant Waterson, I  have returned and will assume command. Thank you for 
covering in my absence.  What is our current status and distance from the 
Avalon-B?"
 
Sitting down  in the center chair, Skyler decided she could get used to this 
chair. It was  much more comfortable than hers was. Yet she was content to let 
Keith occupy it.  She couldn't seem to get what had happened out of her mind. 
She just hoped she  could manage to make it through the rest of the shift 
without any major  distractions. One was enough and what a distraction it  
was...
 
Phillipa advised, "We are  about three hours from the Avalon-B, and just 
about in sensor range.  The  Admiral has taken a shuttle for a confidential 
mission, he should be back by the  time we have retrieved the items from the 
Avalon-B."
 
Upon hearing Phillips's  words, Skyler did a double take. "Did I hear you 
right Lt? The Admiral is not  aboard and didn't feel the need to inform me of 
his 
departure?"
 
Tapping her fingers on  the arm rest, Skyler didn't know if she should be 
upset by this turn of events.  Did he not trust her with whatever he was doing? 
If that was the case why was  she his XO? They were supposed to trust each 
other yet she felt at times that he  didn't trust her at all. She never did 
understand some of the things he did and  this was another one of those times.
 
"You heard correctly,  Captain.  It seemed that it was quite urgent, and he 
was rushed, and seemed  to have a lot on his mind.  Perhaps he just forgot to 
let you know."  
 
Absentmindedly Skyler  replied, "Perhaps you are correct Lieutenant. Thank 
you. Please keep me posted  as to our status. As soon as we are in sensor range 
let me know."
 
Skyler couldn't get a  certain someone off of her mind. What was she going to 
do about it? She knew  what she wanted to do, it was a matter of considering 
Tavi and the other person.  Tavi came first and foremost in anything. That was 
something Skyler had never  expected in her life. Now she had the possibility 
of having a family. Time would  tell.
