"Back on the B"
Captain Skyler
As the shuttle approached the Avalon-B, Skyler started to feel a tad
nervous. She hadn't really planned on ever going back but here she was. The
shuttle
was in a stationary orbit around the ship. She looked at Tavi who had been
sitting at the helm trying to learn how to fly it. She knew that the girl had
other things on her mind, like finding the things the engineer had left behind
and possibly finding his shuttle.
After making sure everything was secure Skyler watched as Tavi, Miriam and
Tery all donned their EVA suits. She knew Tery would be working with Moreya as
well as retrieving whatever she felt was important. Part of her wanted to
show Tery her old quarters, not that they were much to look out. It was a part
of her past.....a part she wanted to share with Tery.
Once they were ready, Skyler beamed the three of them to their destinations.
Tery to engineering. Tavi and Miriam to the library. Skyler then donned her
own suit and beamed herself to the bridge. She felt herself rematerialize, a
feeling she never quite got used to. The night-shift lights were on, and
some of the consoles lit with lazy blinkings, since the security team had
gotten
minimal auxiliary power going. Looking around the bridge memories started
to flood her mind. She saw it the way it used to be. Busy with action, people
doing what they were trained to do. Off to the side of the bridge was her
office.
Turning and walking toward it wasn't easy to walk in the EVA suit but slowly
she made her way to her office. She entered her office stopping just inside
the door. Looking around she remembered conversations she had with different
people. Especially Lissi. God how she missed her. She was the one person she
had been closest to while on the B. Thinking of Lissi brought back memories
of when they had first met. That was one mission she would not soon forget.
Moving further into her office she noticed that it was actually quite
barren. There weren't any personal effects or anything to let anyone know that
she
had even occupied the office. She made her way over to the desk and activated
the computer. She intended to delete all files that might contain sensitive
information. As she went through the files she found that someone had already
deleted them. Hopefully it was Captain Phillips and not the scavengers that
had been aboard. Turning around in the chair she looked around and noticed
that there wasn't anything there worth taking. Closing her eyes she thought of
all the times she had sat in that same chair wondering what the next mission
was going to bring.
Standing she took one last look around and then left her office and found
the nearest jefferies tube that would lead her to her old quarter's. After
climbing what seemed a thousand and one steps she finally reached the deck in
question. Walking down the hall she reached her old quarters. Hesitating
outside
she tried to remember everything that had taken place in those quarter's.
Her many talks with Georgia. Talking to Miranda and realizing they were indeed
sisters. Of all the places on the ship this room probably held the most
memories for her. Good and bad they were all apart of her. Made her what she
was
today. Although she had to admit to herself that nothing in that room or any
other room on this ship had prepared her to become a parent. Yet here she was
becoming one.
With the lights on minimal power the room had an eerie feel about it.
Looking around Skyler didn't see anything she really needed to take back with
her.
All her memories were in her head. The physical items had been hurriedly
taken when she abandoned ship. The one thing she was going to miss the most
about
these quarters was the holographic aspect to them. She had been able to
change the room to fit whatever mood she was in. She had yet to discover if
the
Avalon C had these capabilities. Taking one last look around she decided that
there was nothing left for her there. Instead she decided she would make her
way to Georgia's quarter's and pick up whatever the woman had left behind.
However knowing Georgia she probably hadn't left anything behind.
Leaving her quarter's Skyler made her way to Georgia's. Walking along the
halls with the emergency lighting on was different. At least the marines had
been able to restore some power. Reaching Georgia's quarter's Skyler forced
the
doors open and walked in. Her first instinct was to call out to her friend
but she stopped herself from doing that. Georgia was at Starfleet Medical
working on her medical degree. As she walked into the room she swore she could
almost smell one of Georgia's pecan pies. Sitting down on the couch, awkward
as
it was, Skyler let the memories envelop her. Memories of her time with
Georgia. It seemed like they were always inseparable yet here they were doing
their own separate things. Hopefully they would be reunited sooner than later.
Not wanting to linger any longer than needed Skyler moved from Georgia's
quarter's and made her way back to the bridge. She wanted to check the
computers
as well as make sure the Admiral had left nothing behind. Knowing him he had
everything on voice activation. Hopefully she would be able to override his
commands.
Standing on the bridge, with the emergency lighting made everything seem
ominous. It was also strangely comforting. She moved to the center chair and
sat
down. Even with the EVA suit on, the chair held a special feeling. Looking
out the darkened view screen made her wonder what the Avalon C looked like
from this prospective. Oh well she couldn't have everything. As she sat there
she wondered what Tavi and Miriam were up to. Knowing Tavi, she was finding
what the engineer had left behind. She had no idea why she was so intrigued by
the engineer but if it made her happy Skyler was all for it.
