<USS Avalon> Aventure (Part II) -- Felicity Roan

Adventure (Part II)
-- a log by
Doctor Felicity Roan

As Doctor Rebecca Forrester, played by Felicity, and her Father made
their way towards the entrance of the pyramid, the creature watched them from
the shadows. It needed fresh blood to regain its strength and walk among the
living again. He had been waiting for them to come for years. Finally, his
plan would come to light.

Dr. James Forrester stood over the entrance runes and carefully moved the
tiles to reflect the now translated words and held is breath. Years of
careful study and planning had gone into opening up this pyramid that had been
long
forgotten when Egyptology fell out of favor. As the doors slowly struggled
to open, he let out a large sigh of relief.

"Come now Rebecca and look about, there are traps and more than likely
some other things that we'll need to watch out for. They were very protective
of their shrines."

Felicity turned and gave one more look to the outside and sighed herself
as she knew what was coming. "Yes, Father," was her only comment and in they
went. There were two of her Father's assistants that were with them, Andrew
and Jameson.

The first room was stunning as the light shone upon it. Unques, jewels,
tapestries, Felicity stood there and studied the writer's story come to life.
It was also the first time she felt the presence and shivered. "It's amazing
Father... I would have never imagined such beauty," as she started to
approach a tapestry to try and study the figures. She never saw the arrow
slits.
None of them did, and Andrew heard a whizzing and ducked just as one bounced
off
the stone wall behind him.

"We should move quickly. This isn't a good sign of things to come," the
elder Forrester stated and started heading down a passage nearby. They
navigated several passages and paused each time there was a room or two to
marvel at
it's beauty, and attempted to disarm any visible traps they encountered. They
were certain that many more were lurking in rooms and side passages they
hadn't seen. Jameson was hastily sketching out a map of the interior for future
study. The entity was watching them all the while. As they started down
another set of corridors, it grabbed Andrew.

Now beginning to feel his strength grow, it waited for the chance to
grab the next victim. Jameson was completely unaware as it snatched him out of
the corridor to a secret passage it had been lurking in. It set its sights on
Rebecca Forrester and her Father as they entered the main tomb area.

"Rebecca! Look at this stunning beauty and craftsmanship. Andrew,
Jameson, come and get pictures of this. I want to study this tonight and
before we
decide on a plan for the crypt." He was puzzled when neither of them came
forward.

"Father, I ... I don't like this. Perhaps we should go back and find
Andrew and Jameson. Maybe they encountered traps and have been injured. Let
us
hurry, before we spring a trap."

As they turned to leave, the beast, a cross between a mummy and vampire
stood before them and had it's fangs ready to attack. "Run Rebecca! Grab as
many of the artifacts for study as you can and run! I'll catch up," and with
that he produced a service revolver and had it aimed as the creature.

"Father, NO! I can't leave you here alone with ... with ... that hideous
creature," She had no weapon, but took a step closer to her Father to let the
beast know there was safety in numbers. It didn't seem to care and charged
at them, now drawing an odd-looking sword that Felicity vaguely remembered from
the story called a scimitar.

The elder Forrester took the revolver and aiming carefully at the beast
let off two rounds that barely seemed to phase the monster now running at them
full tilt. They tried to back themselves away slowly, but it was no use.
They were trapped. It was upon them in seconds and she watched in horror as it
attacked her psuedo-Father. It then turned on her, ready to finish the
four-course meal it had planned.

As it pushed her to the ground and tried to attack, Felicity
instinctively screamed, "COMPUTER END PROGRAM!"

That was indeed enough Adventure for one month. Whatever was going on in
the rest of Avalon had to be more pleasant that her mid-afternoon horror
story. With a smile and feeling slightly less stressed she made her way back
to
Medical. It had felt good to be terrified.
