“All Work and No Play”
by Junior Lieutenant Savannah Eckstein
& Ensign Garrett Stevens
Garrett placed his hand on Savannah’s lower back, still smiling from the story she had told a few moments ago. “That is awesome, I can’t believe you really did that,” Garrett said, letting out another chuckle.
Savvy smiled and leaned into him, "I was young! You can't blame me for doing that. Plus, I would do it again a couple of years later as part of my Academy 'hazing' that didn't happen," she winked at him. It had been a nice night - a long walk on the beach in the holodeck that was preceded by a romantic candlelight dinner on solitary pier. "You can't tell me you haven't done anything crazy."
“I never said that,” Garrett smiled down at her. “But yeah, I definitely did some crazy stuff in the academy. Hell, I still do some crazy stuff.” His hand slowly moved up her back and into Savvy’s hair, playing with it a bit. “So, what do you say we go back to my place and have a glass of wine?” Garrett asked, his voice low, only for her ears.
Smiling, almost blushing, Savannah nodded and put an arm around his waist, "I'd love that. As long as you tell me more about your wild habits. I'd like to know what I'm getting into by dating Garrett Stevens." She chuckled a bit as they rounded another corner and approached a turbolift. "It's nice to get out - not everything is all right on board, but I can't put my finger on it."
A frown crossed Garrett’s face as he thought for a moment. “Yeah, there’s something weird going on but I don’t know if the weirdness I’m feeling is due to the problems Counselor Caine is having or if there is more going on here.” Garrett shook off his feeling and replaced the charming smile on his face. “So come on, I’ll tell you all about my wild days over some wine in my quarters.”
"Problems with Lieutenant McKinsely? Is it relationship problems? If it is then I need to stay the hell away from security for a while. Commander Sierra is sort of, uh, how can I put this? He's mad about her?" Savvy smiled again and stepped into the turbolift when it finally appeared. Stepping in, she called out their destination. "Junior Officer's Quarters."
“I don’t believe she’s having relationship problems with Commander Sierra, if she is, she hasn’t mentioned that at all. No, she just found out some disturbing news a few days ago and she’s just overly worn down. But lets not talk about Caine and her problems, I’m more interested in you right now.” Garrett smiled and turned Savannah’s body towards him, wrapping his arms around her waist he pulled her close and kissed her, thankful for the empty turbolift.
Embracing Garrett, Savannah rested her head against his chest. It felt nice to be held and be able to lower her defenses of the big and brash security officer for a change. She assumed it was easier for him being a counselor in training as it were. The doors opened and two people stared in at them - Savvy was away and against the turbolift wall in the blink of an eye. "Oh, this is our stop." Blushing in embarrassment, she started out.
Garrett flashed a huge smile at the officers and winked at Savannah. “Come on girl,” he said, slipping an arm around her waist again and steering her from the turbolift pass the officers who looked after them with interest. “Your not embarrassed are you? What happened to those wild days of yours?”
"Starfleet has slowly, but surely, tainted them with discretion and a conscience - damn them all," Savannah said with a smile on her face as she let Garrett guide her down the corridor. "It's not my fault, but they tend to frown upon streaking down the hallways naked at two in the morning. So, I stopped."
Letting out a chuckle, Garrett took a moment to look Savannah up and down, picturing her walking around the hallways naked. “Now that is I sight I wouldn’t mind happening upon,” he said, lowering his voice and placing his lips next to her ear before placing a light kiss on her neck. “It’s really too bad you had to stop.”
She was in the middle of a laugh when something unnatural caught her eye. Turning quickly she stared down an empty hallway. Frowning, she took a step down the corridor while her eyes darted every which way. "Did you see that?" She wasn't sure what she saw, but it wasn't a Starfleet officer.
Garrett’s eyes followed to where Savvy was looking. “I’m afraid I don’t see anything. Are you sure you actually saw something?” he asked, looking as hard as he possibly could in the direction she was facing, mad at what ever had distracted her from his seduction.
"I'm positive. It was like something was headed this way, but when it saw that I had seen it then it suddenly vanished," Savannah's ran a hand through her hair and blinked a couple of times, "at least, that's what I thought it was. Maybe I was wrong." Giving one last fleeting glance down the corridor, she resumed her arm lock around Garrett's waist and began to move with him.
“Weird,” Garrett looked back over their shoulders frowning. “Well, lets not worry about that though, there are much better things to be doing with our off time.” Garrett winked at her, pulling her body closer to his before looking after his shoulder one more time, with all that had been going on lately, he didn’t want anything sneaking up on them.
"You are so right," Savannah didn't give him a chance to respond and pulled him into a kiss right there in the corridor. So what if someone saw them, she thought, they were both off duty and they were both junior officers. What the hell did they care anyway? It was the most perfect kiss until she opened her eyes and saw the object move again. "Someone is here, now I'm sure of it."
Garrett wanted to curse under his breath, instead he turned his head and was looking for what ever seemed to be following those too. “I’m telling you Savvy, I don’t see anything, but lets go check this out, just to be sure,” he said, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to just forget about it until they checked it out.
She moved ahead of him, it was her instinct. Rounding a corner she pointed a figure she couldn't make out rounding the farthest corner. "There! There! Did you see that?!" She pointed again, but by the time that Garrett had come to her line of sight, the figure was gone again. Savvy took off, calling back to Garrett, "Come on!"
This time Garrett really did curse, only under his breath, hoping to not tick off Savannah. Taking off, he followed after Savvy, catching up with her easily. “What are we chasing?” he asked, trying to figure out what the phantom was they were chasing.
"It's one step ahead of us," Savvy said, gaining ground away from Garrett, but she still saw it every time they rounded a corner. "Computer, place forcefields at every exit point to this deck. Security authorization Lambda Four Alpha Pi." As the computer beeped its acknowledgment, Savannah rounded a corner and didn't see it again. Sighing, she dropped her hands to her side and leaned against the wall.
Garrett stopped next to her and looked around before looking over at Savannah. "Savvy, I don't see anything. Why don't we just head back to my quarters and forget about this?" he asked, leaning in close to her, hoping to get the mood back.
"No! I saw something. Computer, how many non-Starfleet personnel are currently on this deck?" She waited for the computer's always dry and always monotone response. "Something's up, I know it."
"One non-Starfleet being currently on this deck."
Savvy blinked, and stood, "location?"
"Section 35 Gamma."
"Let's go!" Savannah again took off like a bullet from a gun down the corridor. Taking one turn she found herself seeing the same figure round the corner ahead of her. Turning slightly on her heel she called to Garrett who was approaching up behind her, "Garrett! Head him off at the junction of 14 Alpha and 11 Beta!"
"Freaking eh," Garrett said, as he began chasing down the figure again. He had to admit that though he did enjoy a good fight, he enjoyed a nice woman in his bed even more and right now that was all he wanted. Only Savannah seemed to have a different idea at the moment. Shaking his head though, figuring nothing was going to happen that night, Garrett gave in and decided to just enjoy the chase and fight.
Her legs kept churning. She saw the person as clear as day down a long stretch of corridor. Definitely in robes from the Rydyn delegation. "Garrett," she said to no one in particular, "he's a Rydyn delegate! He's not supposed to be out his quarters - Sierra's authorization."
"Okay, so lets get him and arrest him," Garrett stated, pushing himself to run harder to catch the stupid delegate who couldn't seem to obey the rules. All of the delegates were beginning to drive him insane and the fact that one had ruined his date with Savannah, made him a bit cranky.
Praying she'd catch him, Savvy kept up the speed. The delegate rounded the corner as Garrett cut him off. Without realizing Savannah was behind him he turned. With an outreached arm, Savannah dropped him to the ground. A groan and grunt followed as Savvy straddled the man and held his arms above his head. "Don't. Move." She looked at Garrett, "call Commander Sierra and tell him we have something for him."
Garrett nodded and opened a communication channel with Commander Sierra. "Excuse me sir, Lieutenant Savannah and I have found something that we think you might be interested in putting back to it's proper place."
