<USS Avalon> A Visit Not To Remember by Commander Skyler and Doctor Brookman

A Visit Not To Remember

by Commander Skyler and Doctor Brookman

Doctor Brookman clicked a pen, twisted it around his fingers, and began
clicking on it again. It was one of the many odd trinkets the man had in his
office. Just as he was finishing a report on a new development Starfleet
Intelligence had picked up on a routine mission, a woman, in a grey command
uniform stepped in. He looked out with a smile he usually wore for oncoming
visitors. "Ah, Commander," as he keenly observed from his bifocals, "what can I
do for you?"

Skyler had just left Ketchum's office and was not at all pleased with the
order's she had received.

~A memory erasure, how on earth did they expect her to go through a procedure
such as that~

She kept walking until she reached a Doctor Goodman's office. She walked in to
find a man staring out over the top of his bifocals. "I believe I am here to
have some memories erased against my will?" She wasn't too sure about this man
but orders were orders.

The doctor chuckled, "young lady, you are not having your memories erased
against your will. If anything, you should know this is for the best interest
for you and those htat may have seen or interacted with Ms. Cate... oh sorry,
Marksbury," the doctor chuckled again. "In any event, don?t worry, you?re in
good hands if I say so myself. Now please, have a seat wherever you wish, but
please; don?t touch anything. Sensitive nick knacks around here." He laughed as
he disappeared into his office. He then shifted back giving a view of his head
with a smile, "oh, and Commander, I?m Doctor Brookman. Doctor Goodman couldn?t
make it today, some sort of medical issue." And then he disappeared again.

"I haven't been called "young lady" in quite some time Doctor."

Skyler looked around, thinking to her self, don't touch anything , sensitive
stuff, it looks more like Frankenstein?s basement than a Starfleet medical
office. There were at least a dozen or more bizarre looking pieces of
equipment, things that Skyler had never even seen when she was a doctor. Maybe
she would be better off just leaving . She could sneak out and he wouldn't even
know it. Looking around she quietly slipped off the table and started for the
doors and was almost there when she heard a voice.

"Now, now, I've worked here a long time. And I can hear creaks in the bulkhead
you never thought existed." The Doctor laughed a little, "please, have a seat.
This won't take long at all."

As the doctor walked out of his office, he saw the Commander standing
hesitantly. "I certainly hope it wasn't me that disrespected you in some way,
Commander- by calling you young. But what can an old timer like me do?" He
chuckled, "Im quite a relic here. Now please, have a seat."

~I can't believe he heard me ~ "Oh no, You didn't disrespect me Sir, I just
don't relish the idea of people playing around with my mind. Just exactly what
do you plan to do anyway? I have to report back to Captain Flubb in less than
24 hours. I have to be back on board the Avalon by then." ~Or else the crew
will go nuts trying to deal with speaks like Yoda Flubb does Captain~

"I see, well the orders are quite clear," The doctor quickly re-read the
orders, "ah, here it is, mustn't get things confused now, or else things would
get murky..." The doctor than ran off a list of orders...

~He's almost as bad as Flubb~

"One, memory erasure in encounter with Cate, Lyryn Ensign. Two, memory erasure
of any encounter between time of arrival and anything involving the shoreleave
with Ms. Cate. And third, we will have to implant your memories with false ones
or exaggerate it. The human mind, in it's infinite wisdom," The doctor
chuckled, "will handle the rest."

"Whoa there horsey, Implant what where?"

The doctor laughed, "oh nothing as barbaric as putting metal objects in your
head, Commander. Simple put, we will be readjusting your memory, and
re-calibrating some chemistry dealing with short term memory. Intel tells me
you're married, so we can save all that stuff including what you already have
in store. We will just erase the Lyryn Cate encounter."

"Say, Do you think you could speak in plain English? I realize I was once a
Doctor myself, but even this is beyond me. Oh and can you drop the ?dear?, I
keep waiting for the doe ray me to follow."

The doctor pleasantly smiled, "As you like commander. But simply put, we're
erasing a part of your memory. When you wake up, you will be immediately
heading back on the Avalon with no memory of Lyryn Cate."

"Will I remember being here talking to Captain Ketchum? And how will you
explain why I am here?" Skyler was confusing herself more than the doctor was.

The doctor chuckled, "well, we'll have to say falsify your memory that tells
you- Skyler- came in sickbay needing assistance having feeling not all too
well. Medical scans confirmed it was a bad batch of a new drug called TCIAP,
which then I'll rumble of some medical mumbo jumbo you aren't familiar
with-since I really am working on it now with correlation of some other drugs."
The doctor said also, "which TCIAP is on all ships. Well as we were scanning
for any further problems, you passed out. As for your meeting with Ketchum,
we'll just plant memories of you seeing him before he was promoted and you were
especially aware of his change in command."

"So what you are saying is that I will already know about the Captain's
promotion, and that is why I am here, but how will you explain why my husband
is not here. We were on shore leave after all. This is all too mind numbing.
Just do what you must and get it over with before I get up and walk out those
doors."

The doctor smiled; completely ignoring the Commander?s hasty attitude, "don?t
worry, Commander, we?ll handle your dealing with your husband?s presence and
what not. To be sure, the small stuff in your memories will be accounted for.
Now, let?s begin the procedure."
