A New Ship, a New Life

Avalon... The ship that takes you where you need to beâ?¦

Thatâ??s what all the brochures said.

Now here she was, actually on board, ready for a new life.  She joined the
crew when they were docked with ZR VII station.

Veronica looked at the PADD, now to get to her quartersâ?¦ Deck 2, Room 17b.

She had walked the corridors of deck 2 and found room 16 and 18.  She also
had passed the Captainâ??s suite several times.  Finally after walking the
deck three times she finally saw room 17a and 17b.  They were hidden in an
opening that when she looked in previously, appeared to be a closet, but
didnâ??t see the two doors running perpendicular to the closet door.

Veronica placed her bag on the bed and looked about the room.  â??So much for
a window viewâ??, she stated aloud, the computer heard this and changed one
wall to show what was actually outside.  She had forgotten that the
brochure also said that the quarters were able to change to the individuals
preferences.

â??Computer, change the walls to appear as medieval stone castle walls, hang
gothic torches on the walls, but allow for other unseen sources for ambient
light.â??  She seemed to know what she was doing, â??If I am going to be on the
Avalon, might as well make it feel that way in my quartersâ?? she thought.

Finally getting her quarters to her particular specifications and she
ventured to her office next to the Captainâ??s suite.

Secretary, admin assistant, report runner or Yeoman; Same job, different
titles; Ready for her day in the sun.
