atw: macro help - choose and insert picture

I've been asked to investigate whether we can create a macro that will
allow someone to choose a name from a list. Depending on the name
chosen, two associated pictures are to be inserted--one in the text and
one in the footer.
 
Can any of you Word gurus provide guidance on how to do this? I'm a bit
of a VB luddite, so please be gentle. I've also looked and found an
InsertPicture command in an Word 6 ref book, but have been unable to
find anything more recent. The old syntax doesn't work.
