atw: about the STC Australia Chapter

?The Australia Chapter was formed in 2001, with membership initially
composed of those who signed the original petition. To join the Australia
Chapter, Australian STC members need to affiliate through the STC head
office website at http://www.stc.org/renew.asp. To join the STC, follow the
instructions at http://www.stc.org/join.asp.

International STC chapters operate with a large degree of autonomy, while
upholding the constitution and by-laws of the STC. The Australia Chapter
provides an opportunity for Australian members to initiate and become
involved in local activities, and to discuss local issues. It also ensures
that a proportion of membership fees are returned for use in Australia for
the benefit of the technical communication community.

Our major objective is to use this money for the promotion of the profession
of technical communication within Australia. For more detail, please read
our mission statement (pdf).?

We are currently developing a forum where members from all over Australia
can exchange information with each other, and of course, WE WELCOME NEW
MEMBERS and any enquiries!

We have a quarterly Australian newsletter, and an annual technical
publications/online/technical art competition. Membership also entitles you
to receive the fantastic journal ?Technical Communication? from the USA, and
much more.
