atw: Word 2002 numbering icon crash

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem with XP OS =
Office/Word 2002 and if so, if they have come across a solution.
My work PC was recently replaced upon expiry of contract and now, if I =
select some sort of formatting at the beginning of a Word doc (eg =
Heading 1), enter text, hit <enter> (which then auto-launches Normal as =
the 'next' style) then hit the numbering icon on the toolbar, Word =
freezes/crashes. If I open a new doc and immediately select the =
numbering icon, everything's sweet.
I've renamed the Word registry folder (advice received from googling =
this problem) and also Spybot-ed my PC which has not solved the problem. =
I am inclined to believe that Office may have been corrupted upon =
loading when my PC was configured - if so, then an uninstall and =
reinstall of Office will hopefully fix the problem unless anyone has a =
quick-fix solution.

Incidentally, re the Spybot/Adaware etc recent discussion: I have just =
installed both on my home PC and AdAware picked up 8 instances that =
Spybot missed; however, our guru net team @ CSIRO reckon Spybot to be =
superior from their experience. And my manager who used to use Spybot =
and now uses Adaware says that the latter picked up instances that the =
former missed...
