atw: Word 2000 not remembering Track Changes settings

Hi guys
 
Word 2000 is giving me the irrits by forgetting my Track Changes settings in a 
particular document.
 
I go into the doc and set the Track Changes settings the way I like them (for 
example, deleted text shown as hidden rather than strikethrough), but then when 
I open the document next time Word hasn't remembered my settings (for example, 
deleted text is shown as strikethrough).
 
Can any Word gurus out there please tell me how to beat Word into submission 
and get it behave nicely?
